Hey all.
I hope all of you are doing well and had fun in the recently concluded festive season. Belated wishes from my end. As i can see, the forum is in sublime form. I never expected to make a post again in this forum about the show.
But...
The anniversary episode has made many of the old writers come back to the forum and express their feelings about the episode. I read the threads by Harshu, Payal, and Revathi. I too, thought to write what came in my mind after reading them. As one of the forum members said, it is a condition which is reminiscent of what "monsoon feels to long thirsty people of the world" because after lot of days in the ongoing re-run of the show, they viewers got a glimpse of their beloved pair. Its like that Hindi Song from the movie - Ek Villain : " Naye mausam ki sehar , Yaa sard mein dopahar ; Koi mujhko yun mila hai, Jaise banjare ko ghar ". You got something, for which you longed for a considerable time.
Lot has been written about the episode. So, i won't write more about it. I'm, as usual, back to the topic, in general, of Jodha Akbar. Everything, every discussion just stops at one conclusion : The magic which was woven by the actors / historical background , etc. had no parallel and probably we will never have it in future.
We all may remember that Jodha Akbar was the FIRST historical show to break the jinx, and remain on top in the TRP charts for a considerable time. The show seems unstoppable even after more than 1.5 years of its ending. Its breaking all barriers.
Lets not talk about India. Across the world it has gained fans. South East Asia, United States, Spain, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Pakistan, United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Kenya, Bahamas, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, etc. Since i have written historical posts, hence i keep getting comments from people from around the globe about the show etc. Hence, i could write this list. Long time has spanned since the golden period of Jodha Akbar : 2013 to mid 2014 got over ; but the discussions continue till now!
Apart from this, i recently interacted with few Chinese folks who were watching Jodha Akbar. This made me aware of the popularity of JA in their region. Vietnam also aired Jodha Akbar. Same was the case in Myanmar, i had few folks from there too, in discussions. Recently, Jodha Akbar has started in Germany. Just few episodes aired till now. I have Germans to interact with. Their excitement is no less than what ours used to be. If i remember correctly, i was told by a person from the middle east that JA is going to start there (in either, Iran or Iraq) soon.
I have not watched much of TV but i don't think there was any show which was loved so much. The reasons are obvious. The superb chemistry of the lead pair was very well complimented by the historical backing. Our main characters belonged to those 2 clans who played a great role in medieval history of India. Central Asians connect themselves a lot with Mughals to an extent. North Indians with the Rajputs / Mughals. The inter religious background to this story was also interesting, how people from different BGs ally with each other. BTW, in my latest post i have written about the religious angle in this story. Naturally, people still connect with them for various reasons, cultural or emotional, anything. Jodha Akbar is/was no stranger to a "common man" in the North (barring the new age Netizens). One just needs to visit the rural belt of FS / Agra, etc.
Even today : TRPs of re-runs are better than some of the currently running shows, and the rural belt still has Jodha Akbar in top 5/10 every week. Rural folks have great attachment to this story, it seems, when compared to urban. I wonder how Ekta and Co / Zee think about it now ? They could have run the show for years, as they did in the first one year, without much efforts. They had every spice to be added in this already interesting story.
Anyway, we are here to remember what JA gave us and how well it did here and is still doing and will keep doing in future. It has been dubbed into so many languages.
Some times thoughts come in your mind randomly and you just write them as it is, without exercising the option of editing anything from your draft. Same was the case in the present post. No special title could be given to this post. Hence, naming it as just Jodha Akbar.
Edit :
Updated the thread title, on popular demand.
