Swaragini in my opinion seriously shows few things which are backward n narrow minded. I can't just seriously cover them under the blanket of Indian culture. They really need to think about what they r showing.
Feminism is really a lacking issue here. What all little they show is not enough to be accepted. (Pls guys Insulting love n leaving ur husband for non sense reasons is not feminsim but stupidity for me.)

1) Independent Indian Women - Now Sharmishta swara and Ragini have been and are working women r8, but just when they weren't married or not in a living relationship.
This means giving women a ridiculous choice as I borrow ideas n words from CB - choice b/w Family and career. Can it be a choice. Either u have ur family ur husband n children or u can have ur career all alone. This is seriously something to think about.
What I want is swaragini should continue to work even after their patch-up with sanlak.

2) Uttara- even though she isn't a lead but this character is seriously feminism deprived. When she asked about getting married to a guy of her choice we all knew how sujata reacred (even though the boy wasn't r8 but still the reaction was wrong as well) thanks to swara for being her saviour. Now as well it's her marriage, she have not seen the boy, her family have not met the boy and the marriage is fixed. Wow great. N cherry on cake is she herself is not worried about not meeting the boy. I know she might have full faith on family but pls yrr a girl needs to meet and talk to her to be husband.

3) Early Marriage- okay not Bal vivah but still marrying at the age of 18 , 19 or 20 is too early. We need to support girls, we need to enculcate a thinking in their minds that if they won't have a successful professional life then marriage is not a solution. Like boys have a fear of setting up a career before getting married same way the girls should also have this feeling. Come on 21 is till when u could barely complete ur studies n start working for a job. I agree not all are geniuse or too intelligent to grab high paid jobs but still there should be a continuous effort by all to have a set career. Which is lacking in women in swaragini.

These are real issues. What u have to say. Do add on to my points, do correct me if I am wrong. Let's have a healthy discussion on the most required topic "Faminisim" rather than unnecessarily bashing characters.

Let's discuss how much more we can make swaragini promoting Feminsim.

Can't agree more! I don't know how Marwari families are so I am not going to comment if the show is showing them like that but they really need to boost up traditions of these families based on the modern times.

I am sure there are still some narrow-minded people all over the world but they are not as shallow as they show in Swaragini. The recent track is what is very disappointing because Swara can say no as a girl of her own free will to dancing in front of people yet she does it. Usually, she is shown to object to all the mishaps happening to her but I don't know why they are showing her as helpless, accepting garland from people, bowing down to the request of another woman.

It's like all the female characters are deprived of their free will in this show when it comes to making solid decisions. They are ruled by the society and family which I would like to believe is not true in the modern era.

Anyway, you've made good points above. I am glad someone raised this topic because the show really needs to look into this.

i fully agree
seriously SR and other show need to show strong independent women, people have a stereotypical view on Indians. in my work place its full of English people and when i tell them in Indian, they have this view that, i as a women will get married at 20, arranged/forced marriage, housewife, bla bla bla

and it annoys me because indian culture has also changed... Women work, Not all women are housewives, Women get an education, Women do not have to have arranged marriage. Women now a days are strong and independent

urghhh but swaragini on the other hand... No comment, they make women look weak, dependent and vulnerable

uttara has an education but nooo she doesn't work, seriously what does she do with her life?? she doesn't cook or doesn't work?

ragini/swara... ohhh so now when they are men free, they started to work?? sooo we all know they will run along to their husbands later, are they going to carry on working and be independent women?? no !

sharmishta has a baby so i can understand why she doesn't work, when SR started sharmista character was so strong and now she is sooo weak, she cant even make her own decision now and always listening to shikhar

i hope feminism grows in swaragini. i want people to see indian women now a days and how strong we are and how we dont have to rely on men.

Frankly speaking Swaragini is one of the irritating and illogical shows I have ever seen. All of these points are exact and these cliched shows influence the audience a lot.As a result they are misleading them that Indian women beg their hands before their husbands and are ''forced" to work if they leave.
C'mon this is not the infrastructure at present. Girls can do anything if they wish to do.
Hell with this show.I wonder whether it was ever logical
