Is there a creative writer in you? Staff Reporter | Friday, October 21, 2005 10:13:53 IST If so, you could be Balaji Telefilms's next choice for creative posts
Assessing a person's creativity naturally calls for a test. But probably this could be for the very first time that a written test will be conducted this weekend for the post of writers for television serials.
A so-called factory of tele-serial making, Balaji Telefilms is holding a written test to recruit creative writers, ideators, screenplay writers and dialogue writers. The unique test-cum-interview will be conducted tomorrow and the day after at the National College in Bandra.
Well, unlike for other tests, for this one you don't really need to do go through handwritten notes and text books or the like. The preparation for the test would essentially mean proving your creativity through writing on the spot. You may be asked to write some story on a given outline or perhaps some dialogues for a particular dramatic scene to test your writing skill.
The test will be like an extempore competition in which candidates will be asked to write on the spot. Regarding this test the production house has had advertisements published in leading dailies of the city.
The idea to take a written test is very simple as an official of Balaji Telefilms says, "The concept of taking a written test is as simple as it could be. It is a must to hold a written test to recruit writers. We have held this kind of test in others cities like Pune and Lucknow too."
Balaji telefilms is a leading TV serial producing company in the country. It gave a new concept of saas-bahu serials to the world of television, which met with a resounding success and resulted in a huge profits for the production house. Balaji Telefilms began serial making with Zee TV's comedy show Hum Paaanch. Thereafter, it made a few serials for other channels but the most popular among other serials are 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki' among others. Later, Balaji entered into the field of film production too and had made two or three flop films and had an average hit with Kya kool Hain Hum. Incidentally, Balaji Telefilms is a company listed on the Stock Exchange.
Now, the company's business of producing serials has expanded so much that it needs to have a number of story and dialogue writers to write for its serials and the test to be held on October 22 and 23, is a step in that direction to recruit people for that. Currently, the company is looking for Associate Creative Heads, Screenplay and Dialogue Writers and Ideators.
So go ahead. Who knows that creative streak that's been simmering within you for some time now could just make you the next storywriter for the production house's serials.
