Veiledbeauty, yes, I did my medicine in India, now am in the UK.

It's four and a half years of med-school plus one year of internship in India.

Many Indian medical schools are as good as those in the UK/USA.

You will find romance everywhere - but being a doctor is hard work (medical school doesn't seem like hard work though!); you always have to keep up to date, people are not always grateful - consumerism has kicked in; the competition amongst peers is tough; compared to MBA, chartered accountancy, etc it does not pay as well when you consider the hours you put in - and there is no comparison to acting career!

However, I am happy with my profession and planning to return to India in the long run - if u want more info pm me.

^^ a good doctor is one of the BLESSINGS we get!

are you a GP or hospital based? i'm planning to do medicine after my masters, hopefully in immunology lol-

thing is though, medicine requires total dedication and although it seems EASY-PEASY to our parents (they're always insisting 'jus do medicine') its SOOO NOT EASY! why don't they understand that its US who do it that go through the stress/the hard work/the failure and of course the successes...

I'm almost done with my bachelors and if THAT wasn't easy medicine has GOT to be HARD STUFF !!

@randomenss, I am hospital based. You will enjoy doing medicine - it's the years that follow that turn out to be slightly different than our expectations! esp with the current problems in UK
