its not creepy...I would rather say they are so attached to their son that some time alone they would feel like talking to them...I'm not saying it just like that its my own experience...my mom-in-law speaks to my husband at least for about 30mins everyday...Initially it was very frustrating for me...but later on i understood...she was very attached to her son...my FIL being in camps most of their married life...she had only her son sharing her problems and helping her out...Its as simple as you want to spend your lone time with your parents...
