Lost to the King
Chapter 2
He recalled the incident that took place in his life five months back...
Flashback
It was late evening when Chandragupt and his friends were coming back from the jungle to their guru Raonath's Ashram where they were trained in literature, warfare and ability to become a knowledgeable person in life so they can carry on their onuses more immaculately.
The Guru as usual gave them a task to complete before the sunset, but they were stuck due to the bad weather for few hours in the forest.
Although they knew Guru Raonath was strict in these matters, he wanted all his disciples to follow the rules and principles of the ashram but this was something that was caused by nature and hopefully they thought the Guru will understand.
On their way back they lost the way towards the ashram, while passing through the silent trees and dense forest all they could hear was the drizzling sound of the rain, rustling of the leaves from the trees around with huge winds that were blowing since late evening.
"I think we must rest somewhere around" Chandra watched his friends almost slumbering with tiredness...
They all agreed at once and clogged under a huge tree. After keeping their things in one place they soon dozed off but Chandra kept his eyes open. One of them had to look after the night.
The place was eminent for pilfers and muggers at night, and who knows if any wild animal comes around.
He tried igniting fire but failed three times due to wet leaves and wooden sticks, moreover the wind that kept on its pace.
He scanned up for the moon but due to dark clouds in the sky it was impossible to get a moonlight...he had no choice but to keep on looking at the pitch dark night. But his vision was strong and his ears alert. He could hear his friends snoring.
After sometime unable to sit under the tree Chandra thought of taking a few steps. He picked up his sword and kept it in his belt...
After walking towards his left he heard some tinkling sound as if someone was standing very near to him, slowly he ambled towards the sound. He had only taken few steps when he heard the sound again, out of sudden he saw someone standing under a huge tree...
The lighting and thunderstorm flashes falling on the silhouettes revealed the marvelled svelte figure rubbing her hands due to the cold. That first glance of hers made him took another step towards the damsel.
He could now see her fully embodied with ornaments all around her as if she was some bride.
The moment he took another step she heard him and immediately turned to look at him "stop" her beautiful voice enthralled his ears...
but Chandra did not stop, instead he moved towards her "I said stop" She again shouted at him, this time he smiled at her and reached closer.
She took deep breathes, trying to search for some way out. Her wet tresses kept on kissing her cheeks. Her clothes were sticking to her body almost dripping in the rain water.
Terrified at the stranger she backed a little "don't come near me" she said in fright and started moving backwards, after few steps her backbone collided with the tree she was standing under and he was right in front of her.
He was so close that she could feel his breathe on her forehead. Her heart beats increased, her hands were getting cold and her breaths almost stopped. Without saying anything this time she looked up at him.
With small clicks of lighting and thunderstorm she could see his handsome features that were almost scaring her to death...with trembling hands she tried to grip the tree behind her...
Chandra looked at the embellishments on her head uniquely designed to cover her head and forehead, then the nose ring with beautifully carved golden beads stretching towards her one side on the hair, her ears caring the weight of huge earrings and her neck almost covered with big necklace and small pendants touching her bosoms.
Even in the dark her fair features were visible clearly.
She never knew when his strong hands touched her fair arms... her heart raced heavily pumping up and down...
She tried to fidget at first but then she felt his finger touching her chin and moving it up to look into his eyes again...
First the fear and jeopardy of being alone, second wedged in the jungle with this man standing right in front of her, who could harm her or God forbid if he was a thief he would kill her for the jewellery she's wearing, she wanted to cry in fear.
"You can take all the jewels, but please leave me" she softly requested the prince who was busy gazing her exquisite features.
"It looks like you have run from your own wedding" he said smiling at her. After hearing his words she tried pushing him away but he didn't nudge an inch from his place, instead now his hands gripped her tiny waist and the other hand walked towards her big bun.
The moment he pulled the clip, her long hair came falling down her hips...
She was angry at him now, forget the fear "how dare you" she shouted at him this time using her full force to push him away...

Chandra came out of his thought the moment he heard the guards calling out. He got out from the pool picking up the white sheet kept on the nearest end.
"Chandra" Maharani Kalavati stood at the threshold of the big room... then asked the maids to keep all the gifts on the side of the big bed. Kalavati beamed as the gifts were nicely kept on one side.
This was the most special day for the Rani as her Son was now grown up and soon the Mauryan Empire will be in his capable hands. She was sure that he would always obey his elders and fulfil all the wishes for them.
"Rani Ma"
Kalavati turned around with a broad smile "my Son..."
She touched his head "God save you from all the evil eyes" she said and rubbed her little finger across her kohl eyes to get a little on her finger, then rubbed same finger behind his ear
He smiled at her loving mother "what is all this?"
Kalavati looked at the gifts again "these are for you..." she looked at his silk clothes that made him looked more handsome.
"You must sleep now. You have to get up early for your archery as well" Kalavati smiled and left with the maids.
Chandra looked at the gifts "my gift is still on the way"
