OmRu - are many things. Brothers, Partners in crime, best Friends, Confidantes, two parts of one soul. There are a lot of terms which could describe certain aspects of their relationship and yet, not enough words to truly capture the depth of their beautiful relationship.
For Rudra, Omkara is that best friend with whom he can freely joke around, gossip about Lady Baba's flaws, give away his sculptures as emergency gifts to girlfriends, with whom at his side he can pull Shivaay Bhaiyya's leg especially in matters of the heart. Whom he can wake up in the middle of the night to pray to angels or whom he can make eat his Bhindi a la death with a simple oath on their love and some emotional blackmailing here and there, and still get away with nothing but harmless slaps or glares.
Sometimes, he is O - when they are being friends and confidantes and cause mischief together. Other times, he is Bhaiyya - when Rudra is emotionally stressed and needs someone to take care of him. If there is any danger lurking around the corner, Rudra always finds his O to cling to. Their Koala clinging has become a signature gesture by now, greatly loved by their fans even though, it never lasts longer than a few seconds.
Omkara, on the other hand, can easily slip into the protective brother mode if the need arises - like it did during the hospital scenes when Shivaay was battling between life and death. The only thing keeping Om from falling apart was the fact that Rudra needed him. He poured as much comfort into his baby brother as he sought from him.
Whenever he and Shivaay are fighting and Rudra comes up, looking disturbed and anxious, Om signals Shivaay not to tell Rudra anything- he tries to protect him from ugly realities, things that might hurt him and that despite his great dislike for lies. This might not be really lying yet, it is dishonesty, to some levels, thus indicating that subconsciously, Omkara does put his brothers, Rudra, at least, above his truth.
Yet, unlike Shivaay, Om doesn't try to keep Rudra away from all the serious issues. When he found out about why Shivaay seemingly hated Anika so much, he told Rudra about it without hesitation and included him in the investigation - other instances show a similar pattern. Maybe because he knows perfectly well how much it hurts being excluded?
And Rudra, in turn, became the peace-keeper between ShivKara. The one to diffuse the tensions when these two clash - he hates it when people around him fight but never is he as affected by it as he is when the fighting parties are his Bhaiyya and O.
Omkara also takes it upon himself to show Rudra the correct path in life. To teach him what is right and what is wrong - like a parent would.
One of the most beautiful aspects of OmRu's relationship is that they don't need words to convey their thoughts and feelings. These two are all about gestures. Be it an assuring glance, the lingering touches, or silent conversations... words are not needed, their connection runs so deep that they just know. And the chemistry between them is a real treat to watch unfold on screen - real magic that has charmed so many viewers and keeps charming them more and more with each of their scenes.

When you think about ShivKara, the first thing that comes to mind is the love and affection they shower on Rudr - their behaviour towards him is synonymous with that of parents to their child. They love, care, cherish and protect him like no other, shielding him from the ugly realities and bitter truths of life. For Rudr, they can forget everything else.
Shivaay and Omkara are like two sides of a coin - opposite, yet bound together by their love and concern for their baby brother, Rudr. While Shivaay is haughty in his beliefs and harbors a ruthless streak, Om is more sensitive, humble and down to earth. Om sees the world starkly as black and white, but Shivaay sees the grey. To Om, nothing matters more than the truth, whereas to Shivaay, family takes precedence over all else. Two more contradictory personalities there may not be, yet, their love for each other surpasses all boundaries drawn by the differences of their beliefs.
To Shivaay, Omkara is the person who can look beyond the tough exterior and see the man within. Someone who can call him out on his wrongs without hesitation. Where others may not dare to mess with the Shivaay Singh Oberoi, Omkara along with Rudr, never misses an opportunity to tease Shivaay mercilessly. Shivaay is someone who would happily take all the teasing and let his brothers enjoy the simple pleasures of life, if he can protect them from the problems that surround them. Though not much older to Om, Shivaay prefers to handle their issues by himself and let OmRu be as far away from the clutches of worry and concern as possible.
To Omkara, Shivaay is the stronghold that holds the Oberoi family together, the Great Wall of Shivaay, as he loves to call him. During his darkest days, when Om felt that all was lost in life and was on a road to self-destruction, it was Shivaay who pulled him out of the depths of despair, helping him come back to normalcy. When after the video chip leak Om was distraught and accidentally overdosed, Shivaay didn't hesitate to rip apart the parties responsible for his brother's state - be it Tej or any other. Whereas Om couldn't take Shivaay's cold anger and apologised, clarifying his actions. That scene - it left ShivKara fans wanting for more. Shivaay and Omkara's chemistry always appreciated by the fans but this scene carved a special place in everyone's hearts, never to be forgotten.
