Prologue
She could barely even make any sense out of it at all when all of a sudden she was pushed roughly to the ground. She hit the ground with a momentum as the salty dirt rose up into her mouth.
Her blindfold was harshly tugged out. Her hands were still tied behind her back.
She blinked rapidly as the sudden brightness hurt her still adjusting eyes. She blinked back her tears and swivelled around.
It was some kind of a storage unit. There were sacks and boxes roughly packaged arranged in an unsystematic array. There was a dimly lit bulb that lightened up the whole barn like setup.
She could already sense her kidnappers standing behind her. How many, she didn't know but they were definitely a vigilant lot if they could manage to hoodwink her.
She strained against her bonds and was about to spit out a taunt when all of a sudden a suffocating silence spread in the place. She could literally feel her kidnappers snapping into their positions and despite her anger at the situation; she felt a curious gleam of interest at the events.
The plodding shadows that spread their sheet in the nooks of the realm that light could not pervade, hid in them the answer to her questions. She strained her eyes to make a sense of the person who had orchestrated this whole heist.
And God awarded her patience.
A man stepped into the vision of the light. The dim glow reflected eerily in his cold dark eyes.
Her blood froze.
A streaming sense of disbelieve and bewildering shock hit her with the subtlety of a giant earthquake. Her heart thudded in a frantic rhythm as she took in his hardened features and merciless eyes.
Now this was something she hadn't expected.
The man smirked.
He settled into a crouch with a panther like grace and cocked his head at her.
"Did I kidnap myself a villain?"
