Because he wants to make indian patriotic movies & talk and preach about all good things in India. When the former becomes obsolete, he wants to continue being able to do the same whilst sitting in his home in Canada.

It's just weird.

Why would one of the top paid actors of India would need another country's passport? He's so rich that he can afford to have everything at his feet just by one instruction unlike the middle class folks who go to first world countries for better life and income!

Yes...it means he gave up Indian citizenship...because India doesn't allow dual citizenship...but really...how does it matter...I would take the Canadian Akshay over some of these faaltoo ke INDIAN politicians who do nothing but stir shit...Akshay is more patriotic then them and does more for India and Indians.
