Beyhadh review: Jennifer Winget and Kushal Tandon's show is engrossing

Plot: Beyhadh, which premiered on Dussehra, October 11, is a romantic thriller and chronicles the lives of Maya (Jennifer Winget), Arjun (Kushal Tandon) and Saanjh (Aneri Vajani). The first episode begins with Ganesh Chaturthi, and shows Saanjh and Arjun as best friends. The two are close to each other, yet share different dreams. While Arjun wants to be rich and famous, Saanjh is content with her life.
Maya's world, however, is not as simple as theirs. It's rather complicated, wherein she has to deal with the troubled relationship of her parents. This also makes her steer clear of relationships and live a guarded life.
Interestingly, Maya and Arjun's paths cross and the two meet at a parking lot. Arjun is headed for an interview, not knowing that Maya is the boss. His perception of Maya as a strong-headed woman, afraid of none is only true on the surface. In the next episode, she is shown to be scared as a man (not revealed yet) is shown to be walking towards her.
Actors: Jennifer Winget steals the show with her silent yet stoic act. She does justice to the role and creates mystery around this woman, making you want to know more about her. Aneri is convincing in her part. She makes her character relatable, and comes as a breather on the show.
Beyhadh has just begun. It looks promising so far. And it remains to be seen how Maya will transform and how her love will become so beyhadh that it crosses all boundaries of rationality.
The show airs at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
