You've expressed d the crux of the show in a very beautiful mannerI agree with u 100%I think we as admirers of the show should give time for them to unveil the storyCoz for the climax to be great the journey should be wonderfulAnd right now they are showing us the journey and Like how you said its not even 20% complete
I have never posted on the discussion forum, but I wanted to comment the moment I read the other thread that you sited. By the way this is a beautiful post. You actually saved me from writing all this on the other thread and when I saw this thread I scrapped saying it all, altogether because you have said it so beautifully. Now let me get into the technicalities of writing
Why is the female lead given so much importance when the show is male centric?
Shows are rarely ever male centric. If the makers tell you this ask them to pull the other one. Before the script is agreed on by the production house(PH not the Channel) , it has a central protagonist clearly etched and that is usually a she.
Reason: More than 60% of the target audience are females. Females empathize with the character. Secondly when a story is built on classics like Cinderella themed (Poor little Anika and the rich Shivaay) it is imperative to portray her needs of love and acceptance.
Now this story revolves around 3 brothers. That is the back story, the backdrop against which the entire plotline is drawn. Their understanding, their bonding, their love is clearly reflected. The main story revolves around their love life and that is to provide a setting for the central protagonist (Female lead)
Why is Om not given screen space- When will he get his own story?
Om is far too carefully etched for him to be a side character. His sensitivity, his essence, his soul- there is a depth to him and as the theme goes, a soul to him. He will require a carefully etched heroine. Whatever the thought process was behind Ishana, clearly it didn't work or as we say it was doomed before take off.
Now, earlier there was no way of knowing that the character is not working other than mutual discussion of the creatives. Now there is. If you think it is always the PH that takes decisions regarding the introduction and exit of characters, think again.
The channel has to respond to the changing competitive environment and some of the tracks like festivals, introducing/exit of characters, cross overs etc is the call of the channel
Before you ask what bull I'm spawning on thie thread, let me clarify:
These are facts. The source is the material I have collected regarding writing for indian TV written by several established writers.
