I am not going to analyse last night's episode. For me, there is nothing TO analyse.

All of us have seen the OLV of the wedding. The scale in which it had been shot had been phenomenal. The dim yellow / orange lighting made it seem all the more real.

Barring a few bloopers where the culture and rituals are concerned, the execution was close to perfect. I will put them down to the makers need for drama / melodrama. Not uncommon in Indian TV shows. So my expectations had been set low since the beginning.

Actors were on par excellence. Every single one of them. The makers of KRPKAB are extremely lucky to have the best team of actors who have the ability to make the viewers forget that they are watching a fiction show.

Yet, the episode was a let down. At least for me. Why? One reason and one reason ONLY. EDITING. You blink and you miss the mangalsutra scene. I mean...come on!! Who the hell does that? And you know what? I actually did miss it and was left wondering why they skipped it, until I saw the pics posted in the forum. We are not asking for a fortnight long or a week long wedding. I don't have the patience to watch anyway. But I don't want a marathon run either.

The wedding that was shot beautifully, executed perfectly and acted brilliantly, the editing messed up badly.
It's weekend and I am practically running on the clock so I will sum up my thoughts in two sentences.

1. When OLVs start looking like episodes and episodes start resembling spoilers, it is time for the makers to hit a pause button and reevaluate the editing.

2. Shot well, executed well, acted well. But packaged poorly. 85% drama, 15% wedding.

I have tweeted the same to the whole team. If you can retweet, nothing like it. Not sure how to post the link here but my twitter handle is @suvikast.

Happy weekend.

Love,
Suvika.

Well said, 85% drama and 15% marriage! I think from screen time, it was 90% for the mass and 10% for the class! Here the 90% were the others and 10% Dev and Sona!

Completely agreed. Editing was so poor. Its really a pity when the actors did so well in all the scenes which we saw in the spoilers and we thought the episode was going to be fantastic. But alas...everything was so rushed. I dont expect them to drag but at least show a decent screen space.
Shaheer and Erica has outdone themselves. Need to cut the Editor from the payroll!😡

Awesome post. Glad you are taking it up with the CVs.

Seriously! OLVs were really so nice. We were thinking how awsome the outcome would be once interaction scenes wld be added to it. I din knw it was a confusing episode. I think they focussed too much in drama. A couple who was soo excited a night b4 there marriage, doesnt exchange a word during the whole wedding. Every bride waits foe conpliments from the groom but no scene at all. I have started feeling that since Dev's confession episode CVs are focussing too much on negativity. Totally forgetting that the USP of this show was the positive feeling this serial used leave in u after watching an episode. Yes, editing was very poor. I thing ranting on each issue could have been cut down a bit. Wedding cld have been extended to nxt episode or grih pravesh part cld have been shifted to nxt episode.

Very rightly said actors are phenomenal. Shaheer and Erica jst had one or two dialogues in the entire episode yest but their eyes were speaking all the time.

I seriously feel makers shld sloww down the pace of the show. Its loosing its charm in this hurry.
I still love this show.

You know i kinda really liked yesterday's episode...it was not before i visited the forum that i realised there were so many things that didn't go down well with the viewers...
Id agree that the drama quotient was exaggerated but well the makers seem confused on that front...maybe they feel dats wat will get them trps so i can't really expect them to stop if it works fr der biz (evn though i personally feel it does not...it is a low trp show...the audience that drama caters to is not watching and these guys hv tried enough to get them on board through the dramma but its not working, and now playing with the patience of the regular viewers can harm them in the long run)

But keeping dat aside...i really liked how they build on the tension that surfaced throughout the wedding...evn wen love marriages happen in the same culture...there is this unsaid tension that u can sense and wen there is cultural gap, how much ever u plan before when ur on the venue u can definitely sense the tension between the parties...there was no attempt at making things look all good...bcz they arnt at many such weddings and i kinda liked der presentation of it... though yes sometimes gkb and bua did go over the top in the dialogues but well...

I absolutely loved the jai mala...it was sooo cute... aawweeeiii...like i really liked it...dey were smiling, teasing and just being happy...

As far as the marriage goes...i think im ready to trade a one episode marriage even if some parts are edited to a week long of non-sense program...

Another conscious decision iv made is to not watch the OLV's and now i think a big reason fr me enjoying the epi was that i had no notions hw it will be...

Aftr i was really loosing it on the show and feeling dat id soon give it up...i felt the disappointment gets enhanced wen u watch and discuss the scene from one week b4 (given the olvs) and till and evn post the episodes...if it just happens in the episode the impact is not that bad and we can take it...like alot of ppl were disappointed with the engagement mahaepisode bcz dey had a good enough idea of wat will happen and wen dat exactly happened...ppl went ooh only dat happened...it was a disappointing ME...where as wen the next day epi was aired the entire scene was unexpected and if i keep aside the logical analyses of that scene (of how one may believe thats not how the leads should have behaved)... performance wise and emotion wise it was definitely one of the best piece of the show...

The makers indeed need to work on how much they want to show in the olvs...but again there are diverse views on that... some viewers want it all covered from strt to end to everything...there will.be others who just want it to be a teaser and not an episode as u said...if ur the later id suggest skip the olv and it wil make the episode watching experience much better...dey are advertising enough to build the excitement...maybe one can do without watching the olv...

And even though the couple didn't get enough screen space and could hv got more and i still felt satisfied...i don't hv an explanation as to why but i was generally left happy...it gave a very strong feeling of a real wedding happening... sometimes keeping things short make them more prized...the charm could hv been lost if the entire 45 min was just the pheraas and vachan happening... maybe it should nt hv been 15 min...but now if go ahead n ask how long it shld hv been everyone wld hv there own choice...i kinda felt ohk with the makers choice... even though it was fast paced it didn't seem rushed to me...so even without being able to clearly articulate y i liked the episode...all i can say is i kinda really liked it...

One thing i wld hv definitely loved to watch was and i think someone else also pointed out in der post was a small conversation between dev and bijoy at the time of bidaee...if der was something i felt a miss it was majorly that conversation...

Yes der cld hv been some cute moments and exchanges between the couple during the wedding...a longer car sequence at the time of bidai...i still liked the silence but maybe if dat moment cld hv been a bit longer i wld liked it more...still wld not trade anything for getting the shadi done with in one episode...

P.S. bahut zyaada lamba ho gaya post...im pretty bad being precise i guess

@red... like you would have let me rest if I hadn't. 😆

Yes, they could've ended it on a high note. Her stepping into her sasuraal. The red footprints or the hand prints.
