As the autumn months come knocking down the doors and falling through the chimneys, I, your very venerated Ms. BollyChili, thanks loves, have been preoccupied with globe-trotting various Fashion weeks. You know how much I love my custom made couture pieces. They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but what about the furs and wools to hide from the chill during the long and cold nights of the fast approaching winter? Nevertheless, despite my oh-so-awfully busy schedule, I take pains dearies and just for thee, for it pains my heart to see my honeybunches stay oblivious to the latest fashion happenings especially when it concerns the two enchantresses of our industry.
Isn't she a charmer? Winning hearts globally is my girl Priyanka Chopra who owned the Emmy Award's red carpet in a striking red Jason Wu gown with two straps on one shoulder and to add to the drama, floor sweeping length and train to trail behind. Not that I'm complaining. Adding to this uber chic attire were statement diamond earpieces and Brian Atwood footwear. It's a shame not many had the pleasure to get a glimpse of those heels, but nothing misses my watchful eyes. While it is not in me to fan-girl, alas, I am but a mere mortal. Now, I ain't telling y'all that I was thrown for a loop when an unabashed Pee Cee flirted and twirled for a certain Mr. Hiddleston, ahem, I meant the cameras. The well-fitted, bundled up, the free flowing fabric of the gown had my heart bleeding with love. Kudos for not going behemoth with the makeup, the bold red lip complimented the outfit perfectly. My only complain would be that sleek half-braid ponytail. Not that it looks half as bad, but PC, darling, haven't you been taking the vintage Hollywood vibe a bit too seriously? Nevertheless, my love, you owned the look with such elan. I'm sure others were green eyed as you oozed with panache in front of the shutterbugs, for such perfection is hard to miss. You go girl!
But yesterday, as I sat munching on my freshly baked cookies, it occurred to me I had seen someone rocking a similar look, that too not very long ago. As laziness took the better of me, I exhumed through my fashion archives to investigate who exactly was it PC copied, or better say, was inspired by? And find I did! Almost three months back, Deepika Padukone rocked a very similar outfit at the IIFA weekend. Oh the familar cut, the same free flowing red fabric and the ditto floor-sweeping length, but that thigh high slit is what stands out in this Prabal Gurang outfit. Deepika is a scintillating, sophisticated brazen who puts it all in her risque outfits, acing each look with her towering length and confidence. Like PC, DP too chose to don a red lip, but with an addition of a blinding highlight glowing those killer cheekbones of hers. Not that we aren't already jealous of her sculpted bone structure. Don't miss those dangling earrings, I'm totally digging those. Hair in big lose curls to frame her face, this made for a stellar appearance. Suffice to say, it made for one of DP's best appearance to date, though I would take this opportunity to commend the girl's sartorial choices off late. Be it the red carpet or film promotions, Ms. Padukone has been taking the fashion world by storm.
Although PC made sure to vanish all possible thoughts from our mind with that stunning appearance, did she think Ms. BolliChili would miss this? Nada! Especially not when it pitches two reigning Bollywood queens against each other in a Fashion Faceoff. But as they say there is only one Earth, one Heaven and only one Queen. So there will be one winner only. It is not always that Ms. BollyChili is indecisive about the coveted winner of the crown, but after much dilapidation, I hereby declare Queen DP the winner of this Fashion Faceoff. While Priyanka's dress stole the show it was the perfect styling that allowed for Deepika to brisk the award away. Do let me know what you thought about seeing double and how amazing it was.
