Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)- affiliate has set a 48-hour deadline for all Pakistani artists working in India to leave the country. According to online reports, Amey Khopkar, of the MNS Chitrapat Sena said that they have given Pakistani actors and artist a 48-hour deadline to leave India, or else, the MNS will 'push them out'.
This comes at a time when tension between the neighbouring countries has heightened after terrorists killed 18 Army personnel at an Army camp in Uri. India blamed Pakistan for the attack as probe agencies reportedly recovered weapons and ammunition bearing Pakistani insignia from the site. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had condemned the attack saying that it would not go unpunished.
This won't be the first time that Pakistani artists have been targeted and threatened by the Mumbai-based political party. The Shiv Sena has previously announced their plans to hinder the promotions of Fawad Khan's 'Ae Dil Mushkil' and Mahira Khan's 'Raees'. They even went on record to say that filmmakers and producers like Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh Khan 'should not cast Pakistani's in their films'. The political party had also previously targeted Mekaal Hasan Band, noted ghazal singer Ghulam Ali among others to cancel their concerts in India. They had even threatened to launch a stir against a cricket match between India and Pakistan during the T20 World Cup.
