Do you believe there is such a thing as 'star quality'?

Hey!

I have heard many directors or people in general raving about certain actors' star quality.

I heard Sanjay Leela Bhansali say that Aishwarya has that star quality while Rani does not.

Is star quality inherent to a person or is it something that is cleverly manufactured with PR and choice of films?

Are there some people who, no matter how well they do or how hard they work, will never be stars?

What IS star quality? A dimple on the cheek, intense eyes or a witty repertoire of jokes?

Which actors do you think possess this star quality in today's generation? Which actors don't?

Spill.

No. Ive had better service and value at a motel compared to some 4 star hotel attitude on some occasions. Same goes for Michelin rated restaurants. No such thing as star quality.

I think star quality is known as the 'IT factor' and I do believe it exists. I think it has nothing to do with looks or acting, but it has something to do with screen presence as people with great screen presence have it IMO. People who have star quality may look ordinary off screen but on screen they have that magical quality called 'lighting up the screen'. Every single person who has a long career has it.
Star quality is the difference between and Amrita Rao or a Genelia and a Kareena Kapoor.

The difference between a Katrina Kaif and people who can act loads better than her but are not as successful.

The difference between an Ajay Devgan and a Nawaz or a Hooda.

Someone who looks like Thalaiva but becomes a huge mega star.

People like SRK, Ranveer, Kangana who look quite ordinary off screen but become magical on screen and "light up" the screen as they say.

I think either you are born with it or you slowly groom yourself to be star.
Ash,DP are born star, Shilpa Shetty groomed herself and How!!
If you don't have it in you, PR can't do anything for you. Abhishek is prime example of not born with it and not able to cultivate it via PR

Yes, Abhishek and vivek Oberoi ( strangely both relted to Ash somewhere!!)

Someone who commands attention and you don't look elsewhere when star is around. SRK has piercing eyes, DP and Ash have angelic presence, Ranbir has irresistable charm - Am only talking about those who I have seen IRL

Ranbir, Tiger have star qualities. Sid M is boring, IMO

There is something like that. It isn't just looks, it isn't just talent either, maybe a sort of screen presence..
Anyway anyone who is an A lister now is an example of this elusive 'star' quality and it varies from one to the next. Only common thing is every single one of them is there cz they have that X factor no matter what people who dislike a certain star might say..

When I was 4-5 years old and I used to hear about stars and super stars, I used to look in the sky as I felt they used to also shine like them or may be stars would be named after them 😆

Then later when I understood that they aren't real ones, I considered those actors as stars for whom people used to start whistling in single screens and start clapping for their entry.

Now every second person is considered a star if his 1-2 movies become a HIT and this keeps changing from time to time.

For me, star quality means the screen presence of an actor/actress and their ability to play their character so well that you forget that they are just ACTING and are not the characters they are portrayed as. It doesn't matter to me if they have N number of ATBBs or have millions and zillions of fans.

Star quality is perhaps the aura or the magnetic pull which attracts people towards the person. Some stars are able to put it across to the audience and some arent. I think its something which the person cultivates from within, the kind of body language, mannerisms and confidence the person can generate. AB, SRK, Akshay, SK,KKK, KK and so many have it.
