They have been the talk of the town ever since the news of their marriage being in trouble came out. While speculations are rife over the reasons that may have caused tension in their relationship, Vivian Dsenaand Vahbiz Dorabjee claim to be taking time away from each other to sort out their issues. In an exclusive interview with Bombay Times, Vivian talks about problems in his marriage and rumours of a third person crowding their relationship.

What has led to problems in your marriage?
Every couple goes through compatibility issues. And in our case, we are two radically different people " she being a social person and I, asocial. But then again, opposites attract. However, we are not yet done with each other, we have just taken a break. Divorce is out of question. Vahbiz and I will make our marriage work.

How did your families react to this situation?
Our families were shocked, but they respect our decision. They have left it to us to decide what is best for us. This relationship is between Vahbiz and me. And though the families are connected, eventually it's going to be
our call.

You are more successful than her on the career front. Has that caused ego clashes?
There is no place for ego between us. We leave work at work and personal life at home. In fact, being from the same profession makes life easier as we understand each other's erratic schedules and work out our timings accordingly.

You have always maintained that Vahbiz has been supportive of your career. She even put her career on the back burner...
She has always been a strong support system for me and we discuss work till date. I didn't want to participate in 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa', as I was uncomfortable dancing, but she convinced me to get rid of my fears. I would do the same if she gets into a similar situation. That's why we are partners. As for her not working, there were medical reasons for it. She took a sabbatical from work to recover from issues related to thyroid.

A recent report suggested that the presence of a third person, actor Vipul Roy, caused a rift in your marriage...
It's a foolish link-up. Vahbiz and I had a good laugh over it on the phone. Vipul is like a brother to me and we are family friends. His father and he are trying to bring us together. Our love is too strong for a third person to enter, and it's beyond all these petty speculations. People are coming up with weird theories because they are not getting anything out of us. Besides, who are these people talking about our relationship? They did not get us married. Someone is seeking sadistic pleasure in trying to ruin this beautiful relationship that we have. If I move out of the house, people immediately assume that something is wrong and a divorce is on the anvil. If Vahbiz moves out, then I would be accused of being a chauvinist. People have to say something.

How often do you meet?
We meet at least once a week and are aware of what's happening in each other's life. We talk on the phone everyday and are trying to resolve our differences.

And yet Vahbiz was missing on your birthday?
Vahbiz was with me on my birthday. She was the one clicking pictures and making the video. Vipul was there to surprise me, too.

Do you think it will be easy to fill in the cracks that have developed in your relationship?
There is nothing in this world that can't be resolved. It's all about perception. Vahbiz and I have collectively decided that it's not that big an issue that it can't be resolved.

What's that one mistake you won't repeat for the situation to relapse?
Not repeat what just happened. We have been one of the strongest couples in the industry, so when something like this happened, people wanted to enjoy it like some kind of a live series. What I have learnt from this experience is to make the foundation of our relationship stronger with understanding, compatibility, compassion and love.

Is there any competition at home, especially now that your show ('Shakti " Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki') is doing better than hers?
Not at all. In fact, she is very happy for me. She watches my show. I don't get the time to watch my own, but I try to catch up with hers.
