There has to be gap between period films. There was gap between JA and BM. Suddenly their intensity has increased. BM, MJ, Bahubali and PV in a gap of two years is a bit too much.
If BM was made by Bhansali (soon after Devdas), it may not have clicked. Every act/dance would have been compared with his earlier work and panned. Padmavati is coming soon after BM (in fact, the very next Bollywood film by Deepika). Comparisons will be inevitable.
Secondly, role of Khilji. This cannot be compared to SRK's earlier anti hero films. Both in Durr and Baazigar, SRK died at the end and took away audiences' sympathy. In Padmavati, it is her husband who will die and carry audience's sympathy (I am presuming, the character is played by another star). What will RV get?
Also it will be difficult to convince audience about Khilji's passion for a married woman. Love between married Peshwa and Mastani was valid at least in those days. But Khilji's passion is deemed unethical in every era. Deepika with her beauty and star power, somehow could pull through Mastani's character. It will be an uphill task for Ranveer.
I just hope, no studio comes out for Bhansali's film this time so that, Padmavati project is shelved temporarily. This way, RS-DP can pull out from the movie, still no bad blood between the stars and the director.
