Delhi Belly writer Aksaht Verma turns director for short film Mama's Boys, an hilarious modern day take on Mahabharat. With an impressive star cast, which includes Neena Gupta as Kunti and Aditi Rao Hydari as Draupadi- the short film highlights the episode where Arjun comes home after marrying Darupadi and how Kunti, without noticing, asks her son to share whatever he has got among his brothers.

The present day Mahabharat has Bhim working out all the time at the gym with his first wife Hidimba while Yudhishthir, an alcoholic, wastes his time playing poker. Interestingly, in the new ageMahabharat, tthe director slyly hints at Nakul and Sahdev of being gay.

Akshay Oberoi, Arunoday Singh, Amol Parashar, Jim Sarbh and Vivaan Shah form the pandavs while late Razak Khan plays Shakuni Mama. You will find yourself chuckling in no time watching this new age Mahabharat.

I watched this.

Quite a coterie of actors, I must say. I liked all their performances.

Felt like the story never reached a conclusion though. Didn't get the point of it, but was crisp and clever writing.

Only positive was Aditi Rao Hydari...goodness she is beyond gorgeous.

OK I am pretty liberal but still feel like this is just pushing it and uncalled for. People have every right to be upset and protest about it. The only silver lining is that its written by some Akasht Verma and not some Abdul Rahman or Harjinder Singh or John D'souza.

Technically Mahabharat was an epic, not a religious book...yes Bhagavat Gita was religious but they made no reference to it or Krishna. The Pandavas and Draupadi are not worshipped by most Hindus from what I know, although yeah they are children of gods and there is atleast one temple that I know of - the rock cut Shore Temple where they have rathas named after Pandavas but the images are of Shiva and Parvati instead.
