I know we have all been debating "Teda Shravan's" behavior and cringing at his unforgiving and inflexible nature. How he keeps feeding his bitterness with his misogynistic rhetoric and sarcastic tirades. However, I still see that old Shravan somewhere inside this "New" Shravan. He is not totally gone, and neither can he be gotten rid of that easily.
Shravan doesn't know how to take this sudden "clarity" from all about his feelings for Suman and visa-versa. He was never sure she loved him. He thought maybe she did, but then after all the drama during Preekar wedding and then the fallout from Aditya's entry just destroyed all his faith in his feelings and hers. When he had given up on their relationship, to be confronted with a new reality of everyone wanting them to be together is leaving him in limbo. He says "I can't believe why anyone would think you and I..."
He looks at her as he says it. She looks back but says nothing. So he pre-empts her by speaking himself. He says he doesn't think he and Suman can even stand each other, leave alone get married. Then he looks to her again to clarify.
That ONE look that Shravan gave Suman as he said "Lekin Aisa kuch nahin hai" which was less a statement and more a question for her was enough to show the attraction and chemistry simmering under the resentment. He still loves her like crazy and trying so hard not to give into his feelings. Namik's that ONE expression said it all to me. It held a certain longing and intensity from that "Old" Shravan that this "New" Shravan could not quite hide. That split second before he changed his expression again, said it all.
I don't know how he does it SO well, but he does those "split second" expressions so beautifully. So much so you sometimes almost miss them. Just like we do in real life. Where for a split second our true feelings show, and then we mask it quickly. That old Shravan who longed for them to be together, and for Suman to love him came out for a split second and almost asked her "Is it like that?" with his eyes while his lips formed the words "It's nothing like that!".
That one expression gave me hope again. I held onto it like a drowning man holds on to a straw. That one look restored my faith that Shravan still loves Suman and our old Shravan is somewhere inside this New Shravan! I thank Namik for communicating that to us through those to die for expressions of his!
As always please leave comments and let me know what you think? Do you agree or not!
Thanks
Mandy
