Lovely post...👏
Yes, Namik's quick silver expressions just brings alive the character of Shravan for us.Few actors in this space would have got it right. Such nuances...which if not done well could have killed this story...I will also add another nuance to the scene that followed...when Sumo tells him that "You were right"At first viewing it escaped me, I had a chat with Indrani as well to get to that page and I watched the scene again...Sumo gets up and tells him "gud you are clear ...Shravan is acting normal, nonchalant as well. At the same time watch, he is giving exaggerated expressions, almost as if he trying to quell the well of disappointment he feels. Somewhere, the phone talk must have given him some hope which ofc he will never admit to his conscious self. Yet, now confirming that the last shred of hope is also gone, he puts on that act, its not anger but trying to show Sumo how unaffected he is..Uff that was one beautiful nuance, but the more beautiful one follows..She tells him "U r right" Ladke toh bahut mil jayenge" "waike hi dumb hote hain"At the start of the sentence, he is the new Shravan...but then watch out for the old Shravan to peek thru..watch the drop of the exaggerated browlift...when she says the last of her sentence...Poof...he is taken by surprise...and the next fleeting moment is of him processing that info...its too fleeting but it is there...
Totally agree - no, wait let me use an abbr. I just learnt from this thread TA 😃 - with you Mandy, although I still have a hard time accepting (even though I've come to understand it) Shravan 2.0's nonchalance toward Suman's trauma. But I actually can accept his unforgiving, inflexible behavior. Suman has hurt him - without giving him any reasons - in very harsh ways of late, so I understand his resentment. But his shutting out Sumo's pain is still a bitter pill. I guess we've been so used to seeing empathy in Shravan (even for chachi, for god's sake!), that we cannot imagine that such a loyal and sensitive being can actually be spewing such hate at his Sumo.
BUT THAT BLINK-AND-IT'S-GONE EXPRESSION! 😳 The longing, the hope, the vulnerability! AH!I've been saying this to some others and I will say it here again - as long as Namik Paul lives this character (he does way more than play it for sure), it's nigh impossible for me to hate Shravan Malhotra. 😕The vulnerability that is so Shravan and that Namik brings out so organically makes you really forget everything else and see his pain, his dilemma, his love. The sudden clarity that everyone around ShraMan has had about their relationship had fanned the dying embers of his hope. If everyone says it's obvious, did she then actually love him - he must have been asking himself. Should he dare to hope?Even though Shravan's hopes were dashed yet again yesterday, that expression was a clear sign that the mask is slipping. He's going to be at his beastly best, I guess, as he tries to fanatically hold the mask in place after the marriage, but this is one case the 6'4" lawyer is soon going to lose. You know, more than redemption, I want to see how he handles himself and the situation once Sumo breaks down. And cry she will. Pretty soon. She has been holding a lot in.
