Kaabil is going to be another disaster. Indian blind 'Daredevil' with Sanjay Gupta at the helm but Roshan Sr is taking care of the finances so as we know it the film has already earned a 100 cr in theatres without even being released. 😆

It was not at all a bad movie to be declared a disaster. But audience chose not to watch it

Some bakwas movies become easy blockbuster these days and some not so bad movies are disasters 😕

Its a pity that it flopped so badly, though I doubt if its really a disaster like BV.

Watched the movie last week at the local multiplex! It was a good movie, interesting, liked a lot of things abt it, there were a few negatives but overall it was a great effort.

I guess most of the people here didnt even try to watch it on the big screen where the impact would be more. This is why I hate watching movies on my laptop screen, it kills the whole grandeur of movies like this.
There was a deliberate propaganda against this movie from the start. Thats how media and social media nowadays destroys 2 yrs of hard work, research and honest efforts.
Whenever theres a clash, BW and critics and SM picks a side and brutally destroys the other one's fair chances. Thats what happened here.

Some sections of audience also have a resistance to anything that seems remotely close to learning something abt an unknown period of history.
Others just couldnt accept director's interpretation and visualization of an unknown mysterious ancient civilization.

Nope, audience is smart and rejects horrendously boring movies like FAN 😆😆 then their fans make it seem like it was a masterpiece that's why it got rejected by audience and audience have no taste blahblahblah

Audience choice has become so bad actually

Fan was a good movie too but sensible cinema goers chose to watch it on TV because they lost faith in SRK after Dilwale. There are many movies which tank at the BO but are epics in reality which people realise later and Fan is among them.

Pallavi - Yes, some movies are pulled down by media , like BV. But MJ is a bad movie. The research and details they have shown is nothing great shakes. It's all in history books of CBSE.

But AG made a mockery of those times by silly dance steps. MJ intro song and that chand raat song where HR looks like a sardar ji and dances funny, it killed movie for me .
We don't go to watch a movie set. This story could be in any era, MJ was irrelevant here.
AG needs to take responsibility of this fiasco.

Research and details were put into execution really well. And ur saying no great shakes? Was it that easy and cheap to construct those sets?
Is it as simple as reading in history books of CBSE? Is it that simple to recreate that period with such attention to details? Doesnt that effort deserve some credit?

Songs were definitely not upto the mark. But really HR wearing that turban with the horn, and weird makeup, didnt you understand why he did that? 😆 He wasnt trying to dress like a sardarji but putting on a disguise so Moonja and his henchmen wouldnt catch him. He was blending in with the other dancers who were all wearing the same type turban and makeup.

His dance was funny maybe but is that the sum total of the whole movie? It was just a small part of the movie. You are nitpicking really.
It wasnt just any movie set, it was recreation of prehistoric civilization. That is something special for sure.
The same old story of revenge is used in so many BW potboilers which are happily digested by certain audience...then why complain it had the same old story? Isnt that revenge theme repeated in countless BW movies which still become hits?
What New theme or story would AG show in MJ...corporate world? Or MJ's battle with Egyptians? 😆

I see your POV Pallavi. Movie has some positives but they didn't add up to give impact.
Sets don't impress me if they don't contribute to narration. Even a normal movie set takes lot of efforts Coz they build cities . Watch making of any movie.
Overall impact of movie was bad. Nothing jelled in the screenplay . I am not history buff and not looking for pathbreaking stories in BW movie. Give me a cliched story, with good execution and I am game for it. But MJ was a badly put together movie with some brilliant moments like the last sequence. Sadly they were far and few in between .

Which movie follows 100% facts??

Universally loved Airlift/ Neerja/Rustom also had parts which were no where near facts.
It is director's imagination that he adds to the story line and makes it interesting.
