Mahima signed a five year contract with Murka Arts (Subhash Ghai's production company) which would have required her to do 3 films with Subhash + commercial ads & TV Shows. Plus, she was told to donate 30 or 35 % of her earnings for Murka Arts in order to do commercial ads and TV shows but for some reason she refused donate money.

She did not follow any instrusctions according to what I just said in my first paragraph. Money was the main issue why these two had problems. Maybe she refused to pay or perhaps Subhash was being too demanding.

The contract was withdrawn.

The was another issue that happened as Mahima was upset because Subhash didn't cast her to play the female lead in Taal. He felt the role didn't suit her hence why it was given to Aishwarya Rai.

So I guess this issue she had with Subhash Ghai was part the reason why her career failed. When I first saw her In Pardes, I thought she was going to be the next big thing.

THE DREADED CONTRACTA Paper PrisonGhai used to make his young actors sign a five-year contract. Apparently, they had to give 30 per cent of their income, even for work done outside the banner, to Ghai's production house's (Mukta Arts) 'staff welfare fund'. This money was allegedly used to take care of their medical funds and so on. The contract was stringent to say the least. Ghai could do whatever he wanted including promising to make a film with the newcomers and eventually not signing them on, but the actors weren't allowed to take any professional decisions on their own! The director's consultation on every matter was a must and they would have to seek his permission if they were planning to do films with other production houses. The actors would also have to continue to pay Mukta Arts 30 per cent of their earnings. After Pardes, Mahima was inundated with offers for films, ads and shows. The spunky girl decided not to be bound by her contract with Mukta Arts and allegedly took up offers without Ghai's consent. That's when the problems started.
