Rhea Kapoor: Films on young women are my comfort zone

Rhea Kapoor is excited about her third production, Veerey Di Wedding, which features elder sister Sonam, Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in lead roles and is helmed by Khoobsurat director Shashanka Ghosh. "My team has been going all out to make it my best film till date.It's a Delhi-based film and to keep the locations as true to life as possible, we actually knocked on peoples' doors, asking, 'Hi, can we shoot here?'. You will see a relatable side of Delhi.Thailand is another possibility but we are still exploring locations," the filmmaker informed Mirror.

Rumour mills have been abuzz about mum-to-be Kareena being unsure about the film--she's due to welcome her first child this December. Rhea denies it, stating that all they had to do was tweak the shooting schedule a bit. "We will shoot certain sections with the other three girls in October but the maximum chunk will be shot in MarchApril after Kareena returns. The prep required more time than the actual filming," she explains, adding that she is the most comfortable making films about young women. "It's a genre I enjoy working with. I want to do other things as well but this is my comfort zone. There's not much for young girls to watch and relate to in Hindi films," she adds.

While Bebo plays a progressive character, Sonam will transform into a middle class Delhi girl. "Sonam's character is a lot about how your life is governed by what you feel you should do and what you actually want to do. Sonam plays a middle class Delhi girl and she tries to balance everything that comes with that," Rhea reveals.

The 29-year-old filmmaker-stylist attributes her vision to her father, Anil Kapoor, the guiding force behind the family. "Dad always stresses on the importance of doing things at the right time, getting the best crew together and having the right attitude. He has been working for 35 years now. It wouldn't make sense for us to attempt what he's already done. Now, Harshvardhan is entering films. I'd tell him to be honest and humble because we are blessed; gratitude is important. Harsh knows what he wants, and if he is focused, he'll go far," she says.

Besides her production credits, Rhea has also earned quite the credit as a stylist for her films as well as her fashionista sister. She stresses that Sonam loves dressing up but is as normal as any other girl her age. "For me fashion is important because it helps create a story. That's why people relate to Sonam's fashion so much. It's an expression of who she is. She loves to dress up more than anybody I know. She has her off days when she wants to be with her books, laptop, chashmas and chocolates. I'm also a creature of comfort. We're both obsessed with our pyjamas," she adds with a smile. What happens in times of disagreement over certain looks and outfits? "We reach a compromise since we have been working together for so long. Then, a picture will come out and one of us will shoot back with, 'See! I told you so.' But usually, I'm right," she chuckles.

What about the reported impending nuptials with fiancee Karan Boolani? "I'm not getting married anytime soon. Even if I was, it's against our family policy to speak about our personal lives," she says.
