Walking down the stairs, Panchali was worried. It was her first day. No doubt, she had been a class topper, from Mathematics to French, she aced it all. But this was different. A degree in History. A big step indeed and that too from one of the most well-known (not to forget the one toughest to enter) institute. Last month she got results of class 12th and she had topped in Humanities. Her aim was to become a Professor. History obviously would be her subject. Queer, some would call it to be. But to her, it was all that she wanted. The day she laid her hands on the history of Mohenjodaro, she knew what her aim was. While students of her class spent time in coaching classes and maths tutions in the tenth year, she was simply browsing the internet for a book about the Mayans. Strange it was!

But today, she was worried.

Firstly, she had not met her brother before leaving. Her brother, Dhristradyumna (or D as she called him) was an employee at Pritha Services (currently the largest business chain in India). He was the Directing Incharge for South Indian region. Both the siblings would start their day by having breakfast together. So it had been since last five years, after their father's death.

Second, she had forgotten her folder on the dining table. Her folder contained everything. Literally, everything. From important document like the identity proof to the cut-outs of funny jokes from newspapers (she had quite strange habits if you ask).

Finally, she forgot the most important thing. Her copy of Lord of The Rings. Yes. She was a reader. and a very serious reader. She knew all about Harry Potter, Wheel of Time, Dark Devices, William Shakespeare, Jane Austen and any other Williams, Brandons, Marrisas. She possibly could do a major in English literature too.

She was now on her way to the first class of the year. Her favourite class and yet she was worried. It was History.

"So like I was telling you, Daenerys is my favourite. she is so going to break the wheel!" Sitting on the first bench, a girl squealed with excitement. She was early to the class, ten minutes, along with her friend. All prepared she was for the first class. A pen in hand along with an open notebook for notes.

On the neighboring table sat a boy. Long hair, dark eyes and clad in a black t-shirt. His body was toned with all those gym-exercises and he listened to her with great attention.

"I am happy we got rid of that Justin Bieber king." He said, sighing relief.

"Arjun, that was ages ago! What season are you on?" She asked with a disappointed look.

"Don't ask. I finished one last night."

"Last night? Why were you not sleeping!"

"I was way too excited, Surbhi!"

And so sat chatting, Arjun and Surbhi. Friends since they were eight years old, they attended the same school and had the same class and watched the same shows and the list could just go on.

Arjun was the brother of the CEO of Pritha Services, Karna Arya. And much like his brother, he wanted to work in management. He had fixed with his brother to work as a Head Market Analyst for their company once he had his degree. In his hand was a book, his current read, Lord of The Rings. Not was very voracious reader, but he feasted on fantasy.

Surbhi, an aspiring psychologist, was bubbly and could talk endlessly. Her subject would change quickly. She would start with a discussion about dolphins and end up talking about Taylor Swift's last Instagram post!

Time passed in their talks and students assembled, the bell rang at last and the class was going to start. The door of the class opened and a man, fairly aged entered. He set his books on the teacher's table took a chalk and wrote on the board in clear legible form, "KRIP PANDIT".

"Now, enough of the introduction, let us start with our very first lesson, The Indus. You will notice that you have eight books for history this time. The course is slightly bigger than last time (four books which spanned). It is so that we felt it was necessary to cover parts of ancient India more extensively. Before we start, I hope all of you are present."

Just as he completed, the door opened and the class was looking at a girl with books in her hand looking scared. It did not look like a good start.

Three destinies, tied together,
Complex relations exist forever,
Secrets are deep within covers,
Tale will follow two lovers,
Known are warriors of great times,
So are secrets of the King's times.
