Alia Bhatt does not believe in over-planning

Of late, Alia Bhatt's Instagram account has been full of pictures from her US tour. While the photographs capture her workouts, dance acts and backstage moments, not many know that the 23-year-old took "inspiration" from Beyonc and Coldplay's concerts (she attended them in July) for her stage performances.

Taking inspiration

"Even though I was on a break, I came back [from my vacation] more inspired (smiles). Before I left for my trip, I was so tired that I just wanted to go away. I didn't want to think about anything else. But when I came back after the break " during which I also attended Beyonc and Coldplay's concerts " I was doubly inspired," says Alia.

In fact, this renewed energy led to several brainstorming sessions between the actor and her team. "My head was full of ideas, and I was like, I want to do this and that.' I wanted to incorporate a lot of what I experienced at the concerts [in my stage shows]. I wanted to make sure I put up a really good show," says the Udta Punjab star.

Alia also involved her sister, Shaheen Bhatt, in her discussions and planning. "I also sat with her and my team to think about some fun stuff [that could be included in my acts]. Whenever anything good happens to me, or my film does well, I feel happy. I use this appreciation to inspire myself," she says.

Not over-thinking

However, on the work front, Alia insists she isn't planning a lot. "Sometimes, it might make more sense to make smart moves and do this' or that' film. But I always think from the heart," says the actor, adding that she doesn't want to "overthink" or "over-plan" things.

"I know that my film schedule has not been ideal. I had only one film last year, and next year, too, I will probably have one film coming out. So, I agree that the timelines are, probably, not correct. But that's because I am not over-planning things. Maybe, I need to plan a little bit (smiles), but I feel that if I over-plan my career, then things might get boring," she says.

The actor adds that she makes sure her film choices are disparate, so that there's no monotony. "Today, there is no difference between a good, small or big film. A good film can be commercial too. I want to have fun too, so I don't want to do only those films that get people talking about my performances. In that sense, for me, there is an added pressure to make wise choices (smiles)," says Alia.

Dealing with the paparazzi

"You have to accept that culture since the paparazzi is following you everywhere. It's like it is in any other western country, so you have to learn to adapt and deal with it, and not take it too seriously. But sometimes, you don't want to be clicked. And we all go through such days. There are so many times when I reach a place, and I find that my makeup isn't on, and my eyes are looking tired and droopy," she says.
