After days of teasing us with a tantalising trailer, we finally got to see Ranveer Singh asRanveer Ching in this spoof movie. Ranveer Ching Returns is made to promote Chings' products, so it is basically a five minute ad.
After watching the five minute movie that was released today, I was like Eh! What the hell was that? Was that really supposed to be funny or were they really serious about the stuff?'
Whatever wonderment I had about the trailer all disappeared within seconds the whatever-this-was-supposed- to-be started. For some reason, the film is set in a post apocalyptic world, where is everything in ruins and food is scarce. The Mad max-inspired villains have taken control of whatever food is there. In that time, enters Ranveer Ching dressed up for some strange reason (this phrase also applies for the existence of this video) like a Native American. He beats up villains like a typical Rohit Shetty hero, romances Tamannaah (whose only reason to be in the film is to show off her belly...sorry to sound sexist, but the makers did it first) and serves food made in Ching style. Then there is a stupid song for some reason, the villains turn up in the last act, and Ranveer bashes them all. In between, Ranveer turns Govinda with his Chu act, but it somehow doesn't evoke laughter.
The film ends with Ranveer Singh in drag, who plays his mother, Ma Ching (get the joke?), with a terrifying tagle to be continued'. No, please! Don't continue this!
Filled with lame jokes and silly puns, Ranveer Ching Returns can only satiate his die hard fans, though if it does, I am sorry, buddy, but there is something wrong with your sense of humour. At least, there was a couple of moments I actually chuckled in Rohit Shetty's Dilwale; I was not so lucky here. Ranveer Ching Returns makes you laugh at it, while also making you appalled by the kind of money they have put in this ad, and how it turned out to be this stupid.
Sorry Ranveer Ching, I loved your products before, but this has has left me with a bitter aftertaste.
