What would you do when you find that your parent is fighting for his/life because you selected a life partner for yourself that they don't like. You have already talked with your parent before and they have given you the verbal approval and you find out that was just a facade they put up to make you happy.

I feel that talking with Ishwari and convincing will not work because she is flip flopping already.

First, I will talk to my boyfriend on the issue that for some reason my mother doesn't approve of him.. I would ask him to have some patience till I talk it out..

Then I will talk to my elders to find out if she has shared anything on WHY she doesn't like my choice of groom..

If no information from other elders, I will talk to my mother directly and try to sort out the reasons.. If valid reasons, I will think about it and discuss with my partner on what can be done about it.. If invalid reasons, I will arrange for a meeting with all elders where everyone can try to come up with their life-experience and try to convince my mom that for no good reason it's wrong to ask someone to give up on their love-life.. And I have FULL faith that once my mom finds out that majority disapproves of her decision of disapproving my love-life, she would rethink about it and accept..

Next would come for a meeting/discussion with my mom and my boyfriend where my BF would have to try to impress her 😆 ..

All the above scenarios would be considered by me for any regular possessive mother, but for Ishwari-like case, the FIRST and ONLY step would be taking her to psychiatrist and get her checked..
