Evanna Lynch and Katie Leung Talk "Deathly Hallows" Fates in New Interview

Actresses Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) and Katie Leung (Cho Chang) speak on their characters' fates, as well as the fates of others, in a new interview from MTV. Appearing at the recent premiere of "The Golden Compass, pictures from which you can see here, Katie Leung relates her hope that her character finds the same future as Evanna's character does, saying, in part: "I want her to be happy." On that same subject, Evanna simply says "I can't do better than that," when she heard of Luna's future from author J. K. Rowling.

Evanna went on to say she felt "stoned" upon finishing the seventh book and said most of her theories about what would happen turned out to be "rubbish." She continues in the interview, going on to note her feelings on a moment involving the character of Severus Snape, which turned out to be important in the final book, but was not included in the "Order of the Phoenix" film. You can read the full interview in this highly spoilerific article on MTV.

New Role for Robert Pattinson in "Twilight" Film
Pattinson

Robert Pattinson, who portrayed the character of Cedric Diggory in the "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" film has been cast in a new role for the film adaptation of the first book in Stephenie Meyer's series, "Twilight." It was announced today via a press release on the author's site (PDF download here) that Mr. Pattinson will be taking on the role of Edward Cullen in the upcoming film. Stephenie Meyer is quoted on her website as saying of this casting announcement:

I am ecstatic with Summit's choice for Edward. There are very few actors who can look both dangerous and beautiful at the same time, and even fewer who I can picture in my head as Edward. Robert Pattinson is going to be amazing.

The press release also quotes Summit Entertainment's President of Production Erik Feig who speaks on the casting of such a unique and popular character by saying:

"It's always a challenge to find the right actor for a part that has lived so vividly in the imaginations of readers but we took the responsibility seriously and are confident, with Rob Pattinson, that we have found the perfect Edward for our Bella in TWILIGHT."

The film is set to begin production in February 2008 with Kristin Stewart ("Panic Room") taking on the aforementioned role of Bella Swan. You can find the first novel of the series, "Twilight," in our own Cauldron Shop along with its next two chapters "New Moon" and "Eclipse."

'Harry Potter' Actors React To 'Deathly Hallows' Epilogue

For some, it was TMI — for others, too little. J.K. Rowling's epilogue to the "Deathly Hallows" may have actually caused more debate than the rest of the book, simply for the who-ended-up-with-whom element, some of which we knew and saw coming, and others, like Draco gets married?! And spawns?! that we still can't get behind. But for Luna Lovegood and Cho Chang, or at least, the actresses who play them, they're quite happy with their happily-ever-afters — even if Jo didn't see fit to give us all the details in the actual book itself.

"We do know what happens with Luna," Evanna Lynch said when we caught up with her at the "Golden Compass" premiere in London. "She marries Rolf Scamander, the grandson of Newt Scamander [author of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'] and becomes a famous naturalist. I can't do better than that."

"I'm hoping Cho is like Luna, and happily married with kids," Katie Leung said, "and finally over Cedric and Harry. I want her to be happy."

Lynch said she felt "stoned" when she finished reading "Deathly Hallows" — one, because it was over and two, because while most of her theories proved to be "rubbish," she turned out to be right about Snape. Now that we know what his true motivations are, she's disappointed that the moment foreshadowing his relationship with Lily (otherwise known as "Snape's Worst Memory") wasn't included in "Order of the Phoenix" — either the movie itself or the deleted scenes on the DVD, out Tuesday.

"I thought that was a real pity," she said. "But it gave so much away. It has to be Seven now. We have to give him what he deserves."
