Today she is known as the mother of hotshot actor Saif Ali Khan and Soha. But this beautiful actress from the 60s was considered the most beautiful actress of her times. She has her own fan following even today. Wife of the ever popular cricketer Pataudi, Sharmila is content as a mother and wife today. As her daughter's film Khoya Khoya Chand gets ready to release, she makes sure she stands beside her to support her.
Do you watch Jhalak Dikhhla Ja? I saw a few episodes, when I got time and I loved it. It is quite relaxing and entertaining. The one in which Urmila wore a red sari, that is the Diwali episode was great. Dance is something I enjoy a lot, specifically today's dance forms with a lot of energy and vigor. What do you think of Soha as a dancer? She is obviously not a dancer, she has never learnt dancing professionally, but she is a very hard working girl. She has tried but you see in films, it's not like dancing on the stage. There we can do a little bit of cheating and carry it on. But Soha did learn Kathak for some time; she went to a dance teacher, who taught her the chakkars in Kathak. For this film she had to do some classical dance and you can't fake here. Playing the role of a 50s actress she looks almost like you. Does she? My friends say that she is like Tiger in a dress (laughs). She looks more like my mother-in-law; her features are exactly like her. That's Tiger's mother Which film of Soha did you like the best? Rang de basanti was very good. She was very good in her first film Iti Srikanto and also the Bengali film Antarmahal. How different was dance in that era than today's filmi dance? It was not as energetic dance like today. Every generation that is exposed to art, they think they're the best. Everybody is different from the other. Today's generation is very competent, confident and has high level of courage, and is articulate. We couldn't do so many things. Times were different, we were not that exposed. At our times women were more demure, while now it's more in your face. Culturally we've changed a lot. I like Shilpa, Akshay, Hrithik and there are so many more. Do you think women are getting better roles in films today? In our times, we didn't get any dream roles and today India is not ready for women oriented stories. It's the male who dominate; they bring the josh to the theatre. That is the fact. Moreover, its never an individualistic achievement of a woman, like Namesake, she brought up a family. Which are your favorite films of today?

I liked Namesake, I liked Dor very much. Dor is a well-written film with some good performances. There is Parineeta, Lage raho munnabai and Rang de basanti. I enjoyed all of them Source-jhalak official site
