Whats the Social Message?

I know, its just fiction. But for the betterment of society, there should be more proactive methods of showing situations.
Pragya has basically gone through a lot. She doesn't have a father figure in her life, she helped her mom run the house, she's had a few wedding proposals that came and went, Suresh hurt her, she's struggled to have a nice marriage, struggled to get Abhi's love, was accused for God knows what and pushed through them to be proven innocent, was kidnapped and saw her husband shot in front of her eyes, went through an accident kinda sorta similar to Abhi's, was pronounced dead, lost her sister, has three people on her back trying to get her killed.

And they finally show happiness in her life for three solid episodes...where she tells him the truth, wants to start over, wants to be carefree for once in her life...be happy with the love of her life...just to show that she loses him in the most traumatic scenerio of a car accident??

I know that viewers at home want to see the heroine struggle to achieve happiness, which in a way makes it relatable for them to cope with their own daily struggles. But seriously, to this extent? Whats the benefit of showing Pragya suffer this much? Whats the message to society?

I know its just a show. But you never know how much a fictional show could be impacting a viewer!

I don't know about social message KB gives but it gave me some lessons.

1) don't watch Indian telivison shows mainly when they are Ek shows.

2) even if you watch don't get addicted to any actor or character.

3) crap sells a lot in my country, you just need to sell it in attractive packets.

4) Serials are not for entertainment but to get disapointed.

And many more.

a lot of viewers don't want to see the lead struggle...that maybe old school...there is no social message...there is absolutely no message...and yes serials have a hugh impact on the viewers...that is why a lot of them are letting their opinions be heard. the new set of viewers really don't want to see this foolishness...

EK categorically said in some IV that she makes shows for business not social message!

This is just high pack drama.. such loose plots, lack of creativity..all covered in sensational high volt stuff.

Some class of audience may identify with Pragya who never gets happiness.. perhaps like they never achieved their dreams, never got recognition, never were able to make their point..

Another class of audience may just watch the soap for sarees, glamor etc. of the show.

Some watch out of dinner table TV habit.

Some watch for actors..

There is no critical review for TV. There is no rating to stop children from watching it.

It's a mess.

You know many bollywood movies make 100s of crores.. without content, without much artistic excellence. Just by catching something about the masses. So does this soap.

Like today's epi- such poorly shot one, so insensitive.. but the selling point for it is the sensationalism involved with the lead character's death!!!

Maybe there's no progressive social message here, Naina. The way they show criminals winning, law being useless, etc. It's not geared for social impact, I feel.

I feel show has old fashioned message about marriage and husband-wife relationship. This is the ideal for women written in religious books, I guess, that the show is cashing on. You know like Sati, Savitri, Sita, etc.

I noticed more life lessons in the show looking at Pragya and Abhi. Problems of middle class families, how upbringing makes a difference. Abhi - he's a celebrity but look at the problems in his life. How people want his money or control him or target him. With all his fame, he has not had a full happily married day in his life.

No social message... Only thing I learnt is you should not watch this kind of soaps and if you do then please don't get involved too much emotionally into it...

No social message but a typical Indian television formula or I must say EK's strategy that the lead have to suffer.. the heroine has to shed bucket full of tears so that the viewers can connect with her. And I don't think people with problems in their lives would like to watch such soaps!!
Plus Ekta has some tracks fixed which she repeats in every serial. I'll not be afraid if in next track they'll introduce Abhi's duplicate who'll try to takeover his place as a rockstar!!
