The Punjabi film Bambukat took a very good in opening In East Punjab becoming one of the very few films to top 1 crore nett on opening day in the circuit and had the 4th highest opening ever for a Punjabi film in the circuit. The film faced major competition with Dishoom but outscored the Hindi film comfortably across all cities in Punjab. Bambukat had better collections than Dishoom despite Bambukat mainly collecting from just Punjab cities while business in Haryana and Himachal was lesser which is the case with most Punjabi films. The top openings of Punjabi films in East Punjab are as follows.
1. Sardaarji 2 - 2,05,00,000
2. Sardaarji - 2,02,00,000
3. Ambarsariya - 1,58,00,000
4. Bambukat - 1,38,00,000
5. Jatt & Juliet 2 - 1,26,00,000
The opening is the best of the year after the two Diljit Dosanjh starrers Sardaarji 2 and Ambarsariya and has comfortably outscored the two other successes of the year Love Punjab and Ardaas. It looks set to become a big hit and the next three days or so will determine what is the potential.
