A show can manage without any actor

Ekta Kapoor At a recent television awards function Smriti Irani thanked Ekta Kapoor for giving her the first break, Ekta decided to give it back to Smriti on stage. Recalling the evening Ekta chuckles, "I decided to pay back her compliment. See how good I am? I was smiling throughout. Seriously, it was just friendly banter. We did get a little edgy with each other. But since we know each other so well, we can take that liberty of being humorous about each other and maintain a cordial relationship." Future tense So if that was just cordial banter when is 'Smriti coming back to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? Shrugs Ekta. "What can I say to that? Que sera sera. I'd be very happy to have Smriti back. As I said on stage that evening at the television awards, and my words were perceived to be sarcastic, Smriti has become a very busy producer now." That brings us to Smriti's new shows as producer and actress. What is Ekta's take on them? "I won't give you a diplomatic answer to that. I think Smriti's shows reflect her personality. She's someone with very rigid opinions and has a lot to say through her serials and her characters. But I believe TV entertainment is not about projecting the producer's voice only. Smriti manages to cater to a certain section of the audience." Just a character Ekta admits she doesn't watch Smriti's shows regularly. "I'm too busy with my own shows. And of course we miss Smriti on Kyunki after having her on the show after six years but Tulsi is not just a face. She's a character way beyond her physicality. TRPs dip when the drama declines. A show can manage without any actor." Ekta turns uncharacteristically undiplomatic, "More than Smriti, who is a very balanced person, someone who has really disappointed me is an actor who left us after arrogantly declaring, 'Watch my re-entry and see what happens.' Does she mean Iqbal Khan? "Yes," says Ekta. "The entry TRPs of his show (Choona Hai Aasman) were dismal. The moral of the story — do not blow your own trumpet. Because what you bring to the table as an actor is what the technical crew puts together for you. Actors in this country don't respect technicians — they make or break shows." Ekta's blue-eyed girl Prachi Desai has been signed to play the lead opposite Farhan Akhtar. "I'm very happy she's doing a film. Though let me add I didn't get her the film." Ekta makes it clear she's fine with her actors doing films. "On the contrary, I'm happy they're trying a new medium. And a medium that allows you to play different characters. On TV, you're identified with only one character. Cinema gives an actor a much larger platform. But the kind of viewership you get on TV can never be matched by cinema. To me, cinema is silver screen, television is the golden screen." And then Ekta's parting shot. "I'll never give up TV until it throws me out. TV is my life."

For me the STAR of KAA is Pallavi as the female leads are always the stars of these types of shows... I guess she the one who will gain alot from Balaji like everyone else has in the past... 😆 😉 😃

Well I am posting here after a long time.. This should be fun 😛 ~

My take here: There are always two sides of a story. U've heard and reacted to what Ekta has to say but in all articles post Iqbal's exit from KAA, I have "NEVER" seen him badmouth Ekta, Balaji or anybody associated with them. So I don't believe it one bit that he would ever boast about his own re-entry. I don't see a direct quote by him in the article either. It would have been nice to get a response from Iqbal as well here but I guess the author of the article did not get time to do so.. Anyhow, Ekta sure does have a lot of time on her hand to monitor CHA/Smriti Irani's serials. Guess she does miss them both dearly 😳 ~

And for those who always like to state facts and not leave a chance to ridicule Iqbal or other ex-Balaji actors/actresses, they should do their homework properly. Comparing a channel that not a lot of indian population get in their households (Star One) to the one that is obviously more available (Star Plus) is sort of silly, don't you think? I know that Star one is not even available here in Canada while Star Plus shows are shown via ATN. So obviously that's what reflects in the TRPs as well as you need to have access to something to be able to watch it and compare it with other shows on fair grounds. However, at the end of the day, we are here to get entertained and CHA is doing a fab job @ doing so thus far for its own audience.

Articles like these rather show Ekta's rigidity of her feeble "professionalism" than anything else. I have always admired the lady for her eye of recognizing and producing good talent but humility and modesty are qualities that are definitely not her forte!

P.S I do agree with Kat that a "team effort" is a huge factor in establishing how a serial does eventually. However, that is "NOT" the only factor or else every BT serial would be a huge hit! Btw, I love Pallavi to bits. She's my fav. actress for sure 😃 ~

Ekta has no idea what she is saying!!

Iqbal has never said anything bad about Ekta and for Ekta to say something like this about him is just disgraceful.

The only reason why the other actors are not leaving her shows are coz of fear. They are practically scared of her. The day they get the courage to leave, I would really like to see how well her shows do.

Im sooo glad Iqbal has left. He was good but he is gonna be even better now that he is doing something unique, meaningful and entertaining instead of the saas bahu dramas.

Shweta Tiwari my favorite is also leaving Kasauti. They never appreciated her work. If they really did, they would at least award her for doing such an incredible job as Prerna and give her a break for a while after all she is a single mother in real life and her daughter is her priority.

Ekta is selfish!! She only cares about her shows and her work not for the actors well being.

Enough of the rona dhona, its time all the actors leave and do something different.

Im sure very soon she will be badmouthing Shweta. Its only a matter of time.

Ekta has no dignity and no class!!!
