EIC Outrage: Salute to Our Indian Athletes!

Do watch the video before you comment. I follow these guys on YT because their videos are usually good and they make an effect to bring up topics that need attention. I just saw this video even though the entire Olympics ka controversy is long over and during that entire debacle I saw many comments which I was reminded of when watching this video and it still brings up these questions in my mind:

Do you think that the Athletes need Bollywood to help them gain recognition among the masses?

Do you feel that the average Indian wouldn't at all be interested in any sport (excluding cricket) if Bollywood doesn't make movies on them?

Do you believe that not just sports but any topic that requires the concern and attention of the public will only be bought to a forefront if and when a Bollywood star puts a spotlight on it?

If yes then is such an influence good or bad? Is it okay that the general public places so MUCH of importance on Bollywood stars rather than all the other important Indian personalities who represent our country on international platforms?

The influence of BW is quite evident by the difference of TRps and attendance of IL and ISL

True and I have noticed that many people do not know of many important personalities in our country, like the example given in the video of the entire Olympics debacle during which I noticed quite a few people commenting that they would not have known about so and so sportsperson if Bollywood had not made a movie on them.
Sports personalities who have done so much to reach such heights yet they are reduced to being just another face in the crowd until someone in Bollywood decides to make a movie on them. Is it right that the public has given so much more importance to BW than the actual personalities who deserve their adulation?

In a way, it is good seeing how the government doesn't really provide any sort of help to the other sectors like sports and all so bollywood making movies does bring them publicity in a way but in another way, it is quite sad to see that the people need bollywood to know about such important topics. Its become so that other than bollywood stars and cricketers, the rest are pretty much disregarded by the general public until the former two talk about it and inform them.
I don't see such a thing happening in other countries, though I would not know THAT well about what happens in other countries since I do not live there but based on my experience of knowing people who live there, they know about other famous personalities outside of hollywood or whatever equivalent film industry they have there and they don't just know of it because there was some movie made on it.

Dont go by comments here or on SM. They are stans supporting their favorite star. Some were lying thru their teeth. If Salman would have said who is Sachin they too said they dont know Sachin. There were many others are not even Indians and do not live in India. They are less likely to know about Indian sportspersons as a resident Indian would know. Like we wouldnt know all American or all English sportsperson.
Now having said that yes BW DOES influence the general public. If a BW personality is involved people do pay attention to any topic whether its sports or physical health or mental health.

Media is powerful though

You can express your opinion and thoughts to many people. From selling, starting a trend, giving an opinion.

Politicians and governments try use the media to influence the public.

Well that is also true 😆 😆 But we have to also take into count that SM does contain a part of the general public in a way, even if most of them are stans. It's sad to see them dissing such hard working athletes who don't even get proper support from the country.

Yes, you make a good point. I guess the source really stems from the media that decides what and who deserve their focus and in our country the main focus usually ends up being- Bollywood, Politicians and Cricket.
