Smriti enters teen bahuraniyan article

Smriti Irani will join the cast of Teen Bahuraniyaan, a show outside her own production house, as a strong-willed mausi. She calls it 'an adventure'

Smriti Z Irani is all set to enter Zee TV's Teen Bahuraniyaan as Vrinda Mausi who will save the main lead Janki's (Kadambari Desai) life from her in-laws. This the first show she will acting in outside her own production house after she quit Balaji Telefilms and got into production. Currently she is working on Virrudh and Mere Apne.

Smriti confirms that she was indeed going to be part of the show. She says, "Yes, I am doing Teen Bahuraniyaan and am playing a positive character in the show.

People thought I would not be doing any show outside my production house. I have worked with the writer of the show besides Hemalji (Hemal Thakkar, producer) and when the channel told me about the role I was impressed.

Besides, the team has put together good shows in the past. The channel will be able to elaborate on my role. And just watch out for my look in the show!"

What made her do a show outside her own production house? She says, "Even as offers were coming my way, I was exploring the possibility of acting in a serial outside my own production house. Together with the channel I'm working on various projects."

As Smriti enters a new show there are bound to be expectations. How is going to deal with that? "This is a new adventure I am embarking on and I know there will be huge expectations from the viewers.

We made sure that there were elements of lightness in the role and that it made a difference to the show. I feel excited about going back to a set only as an actor and not as a producer. I like to be at the mercy of a creative head of another show.

It has been a nice experience shooting for the show so far and I am impressed with the creative team. I am looking forward to this."

Sharad Mehta, creative supervisor of the show at Zee TV, elaborates on Smriti's role, "Smriti will be playing a strong and confident mausi in the show.

She is unpredictable and will tackle issues in her own way. With various shades to her character she will be the motivating factor and a source of strength to Janki and will re-unite the family. Smriti will make a huge difference to the show."

Smriti started shooting for Teen Bahuraniyaan yesterday and she will be on air from December 10.
