The Busy B
Aamir Khan has called Amitabh Bachchan's office for an appointment to sort out the Black controversy but the Big B is too occupied to see him!
By: Upala KBR & Tushar Joshi The latest B-Town feud is gaining momentum. The Amitabh Bachchan-Aamir Khan war of words began with Aamir making uncomplimentary comm- ents on AB-starrer Black. An offended Bachchan responded with some angry words of his own as reported 'Maybe the performances in Black did go over Aamir's head (HiTLIST, November 27). Now Aamir, whose innocent remark sparked off the controversy wants to bury it. He is seeking an appointment with the Big B. The 'B' in Bachchan may just as well stand for 'Busy' as Amitabh's office still has to get back to Aamir about the meeting.
Reveals a source close to the actor, "Since Aamir's statements came out, Aamir's blog (www. aamirkhan.com) has been buzzing with reactions from all over the world. While most support his view, others are shocked at his take on Black. Aamir is planning to post a new blog declaring that he's been trying to reach out to Bachchan and to seek some kind of a reconciliation."
The source adds, "Aamir has read each and every statement made by Bachchan and he's upset that the senior actor has taken offence to his comments. It was not his intention to antagonise Bachchan as he respects him and his work. His comments were part of a discussion on certain films. In fact, Aamir's been trying to reach out to Bachchan to put across his point of view and explain to him what he feels. He has called up Bachchan a number of times to try and sort out the matter but Bachchan is very upset and is not taking his calls."
Time constraints
When we asked the Big B if he wasn't taking Aamir's calls, this is what he had to say, "Aamir has called my office to set up an appointment with me. Since I am shooting round the clock I have not been able to give time but as soon as my shoot ends, I shall meet him. Healthy discussion is a very welcome activity in our industry. One can never get upset with it. Aamir and I have, in the past, spent long hours discussing various aspects of films, performances and story ideas. When we meet, we shall do so again."
Is he upset with Aamir for those statements? Bachchan says, "No, of course, I am not upset! It would be incorrect for anyone to assume that. My respect for the industry and its fraternity is far too great to even entertain such thoughts. It is unfortunate that due to our erratic and cumbersome schedules, the media has become our medium of expressing and communicating to each other! But thank God for that at least… else we would be deprived of any exchange."
The Aamir camp confirms, "Yes, Aamir had called Rosie (Bachchan's secretary) and sought an appointment with him as he's been disturbed with the recent developments and the controversy over his statements on Black. He wants to personally meet him and end the dispute amicably. Now he's waiting for Bachchan to get back." And the story continues…
