His analysis of Fan is so thoughtful. In a way it resembles Aaja Nachle. When that movie flopped, I read someone's comment. The reason they could not connect to the movie was its purpose. Whole movie centred on keeping the theatre in that village. "It was only a theatre, not Taj Mahal" was the comment. Fan also suffered the same problem. Whole film centred on a "Sorry". Sharukh is more receptive than his fans. He admits his inability to judge the script,

Sometimes in words, he still sounds as an arrogant star. But the way he has dealt with recent failure, shows, he is more matured than what he portrays.

With regards to the pay disparity, I remember watching Anushka's interview with Anupama where she said that the disparity actually is at many levels. It ain't just restricted to pay. According to her, it's even to the point where the male leads get a better hotel room as compared to the female leads. She even talked about the fact that if there are two newcomers being launched in a movie, it's the male lead that will get paid more as opposed to the female lead! The concept of getting paid according to the audience you bring in doesn't even apply there yet the disparity is there so it's the mindset that's an issue here. With regards to hard work, I don't think he'll ever deny telly stars work hard. He started his career from there but cinema is a whole another medium. You're paying for a ticket to watch a movie in a theater which is why people say that things in the industry change every Friday. Your market value changes so often considering how much your last movie made so television and cinema are two different mediums altogether. You can just switch off your television if you happen to find something boring but with regards to cinema, it ain't like you're going to get your money back. So their market value is dependent a lot on how the movie does on a Friday as folks are paying out of their pockets to watch movies in theaters.
