@annihilation - Yes. Absolutely. Punishment does not necessarily mean that you have to be locked behind bars. It does not necessarily mean that people pelt stones at you. But it also should not mean that you lead your life today the way you did yesterday.

For no fault of his, haider suffered so much. And simply because Manohar realizes today that you should not indulge in corruption, he gets away with it? I don't have a problem with him wanting to change and become a better man. I have a problem with therefore assuming that everything he did so far is forgiven. That is no redemption.

I agree there. I don't like it either as to how Jai and Manohar will get away scott-free. Haider suffered so horribly for no fault of his at all and everything in the end will get justified with a 'sorry'. Not acceptable at all. He should atleast resign and step down from his post if nothing else. However, if we're to keep the real life in mind, mostly people don't even get justice like Haider and Asad were fortunate to get. They're lucky!
