Aaja Nachle Banned in Punjab

Around 100 Dalits activists of Ambedkar Sena held a protest march and blocked the traffic on national highway for more than half-an-hour today. The protestors were angry over the alleged casteist remarks in the title song of Hindi film 'Aja Nach Le'. The Yashraj banner film is a comeback vehicle of dancing diva Madhuri Dixit. The protestors, led by Harbhajan Suman, later submitted a memorandum to the SDM. The blockade was lifted only after the intervention of the police.

Meanwhile, the state government today banned the screening of 'Aaja Nach Le' as a preventive measure to maintain peace and law and order in the state. The decision came in the wake of reports that a section of society was feeling outraged over a line in the title song. Announcing this, CM's media advisor Harcharan Bains said the decision has been enforced with immediate effect and is dictated by considerations of safety of life and property of the people in Punjab.
