Barun Sobti's comeback show scrapped?
Barun Sobti's comeback show,'Satya Ki Kiran', which was being shot in Delhi and Noida, has been scrapped, sources tell us. After he quit his last show,'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon', Barun didn't take up TV projects for four years as he was focusing on films. However, since this was supposed to be a finite series, Barun had taken up the show. The cast and the crew of the show had been shooting in various parts of Delhi and Noida for the romantic thriller series that had Barun playing a Delhi Police official and Shivani Tomar playing a conwoman and his love interest.
Sources tell us, "Initially, the show was supposed to be a finite series comprising 26 episodes airing on weekends. Later, the channel decided to convert it into a daily soap of 120 episodes, airing on weekdays at 10.30pm, and it was rechristened Mohra. But it seems that the production house wasn't convinced since they had got a fixed budget for 26 episodes. The channel and the production house weren't on the same page regarding the show and there were some scenes that were even reshot at the behest of the channel. However, the channel wasn't convinced, which is why the show, which was supposed to go on air in May-end, was pushed to July. A meeting was held between the producers and the channel last week, where it was decided that the show will be scrapped."
An actor, requesting anonymity, told us, "It's been almost a month since we haven't been shooting in Delhi. Everyone has come back to Mumbai and we are clueless as to what's happening. We have just been asked to wait for now as the future of the show looks uncertain." A crew member says, "We were told that the show will be shifting base to Mumbai. The last thing we heard was that shooting a 120-epsidoe series in Delhi wasn't feasible, so the show would be shot in Mumbai. There's been no update since then."
According to sources from the channel, "Even though they had shot many scenes in the NCR region, the production house didn't have a proper script or even the storyline of the first few episodes in hand. Random scenes had been shot. The channel didn't want to go ahead with a half-baked show, and so decided to can the show."
We texted Barun, but he didn't revert to our message. We also contacted Myleeta Aga Williams, from the production company, who denied this development, saying, "No. Not true."
