Karan Patel and Divyanka Tripathi
The audience in Pakistan lap up many of our Indian TV shows, but recently a scene from Ye Hai Mohabbatein, a popular show here, seems to have upset the Pakistani Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). PEMRA, which monitors television content in Pakistan, recently posted on Twitter that the episode, which was aired on June 1 showed the lead couple (played by Divyanka Tripathiand Karan Patel ) engage in indecent activities. This, apparently, was in violation with the Electronic Media Ordinance 2015. The sequence featured Divyanka and Karan getting intimate in an inebriated state.
The PEMRA's reaction has come as a surprise to Divyanka, who says the scene wasn't offensive at all. She says, "My sari was properly pinned up and intact. We haven't shown any nudity. I believe our romance was so convincing that people imagined more than what was shown. Such is the power of this medium."

My character is a strong and progressive woman with family values. I love watching Pakistani shows, too. Art and artistes need to be promoted. I am positive that the issue will be resolved."
