2nd Shot: Meet My Friend, Matt

New York, 2015:

Asad walked 2wards d exit of New York International Airport. He was now in d country of his love who left him 2 years ago. He wanted to meet her but her aapi n jeeju have clearly told him never to have any contact wid her again as he has hurt her a lot. Even his mother don't want him to meet as she is also guilty of letn him always hurt her which she will not do again. Asad decided never to meet her as he don't deserve her. For now, he is here for a deal wid some ZZF who has founded d online shopping site Green Apple. He only knows dat d owner is a woman who is 26 years old hardworking woman. D owner's entire name have never been published. Even her photo is never published. His partner 4m London has recommended him for a meeting wid ZZF. D person who accompanied him to New York is his PA Prasad. Asad came out of d airport wid Prasad n they both sat in a cab.

Scene shifts to a office named Green Apple. A woman enters d office in a white top, red skirt n black jacket. Her face is not shown. Everyone stands up to greet her. A woman who is her PA rushes to her. She motions her to follow her to her cabin.

"Nida, wat abt d meeting wid our new client?" asked d woman.

"ZZF, I cud not tell d client's name earlier. His name is A...," replied Nida.

Dat woman was only ZZF. Her face is still not shown. Her employees call her ZZF instead of Madam or Madam. Before Nida cud complete, her phone rang n she motioned Nida to leave her alone. Nida left d room.

"Hello Matt," said ZZF as her face revealed to be of none other than Zoya Farooqui.

"Hey Zoe, I want to meet u," said Matt.

"Fine, u can come now. I have a meeting wid some client in 15 minutes," said Zoya.

Matt whose real name is Matthew Anderson is Zoya's childhood friend 4m d time they were 6. Matt is an American man but he can speak in hindi due to his several Indian friends. He is a well-built man of 6'3". He runs a company named Health Machine which is a business of energy drinks, protein shakes, vitamin supplements n other things. He is among d friends who helped Zoya come to terms wid Akram n Asad. Matt always cheers up Zoya weneva she thinks abt Asad or her bad past. He helped her regain her spirit n confidence which made her rise as a businesswoman. Matt wishes dat Zoya never gets any wrong guy ever n if a wrong guy comes across her again he will never let him hurt Zoya.

"I am outside ur office only," said Matt.

"Okay come," said Zoya n hung up.

She went outside d cabin. Matt entered d office. Nida came to them.

"ZZF, d new client has arrived outside," said Nida.

"Well, send him in," said Zoya.

Nida went outside d office to escort d client inside. Zoya then sees a handsome employee of higher position going into his cabin wid many girls lukn at him.

Nida enters d office wid Asad. Asad had come alone as Prasad was handling other things. Asad lukds around d office. He sees a woman whose back is turned to him scolding d employees. A man was wid her whose face he cud see.

"Wat were u all lukn so much at dat guy?" asked Zoya angrily, "Kabhi koi ladka ka nahi dekha hai kya? If u want to drool over a hot guy do it outside dis office not here."

"She is our boss ZZF. She is arrogant n short-tempered," whispered Nida.

"Nida, come to my cabin wid d new client who is already 5 minutes," said Zoya widout lukn back n walked into her cabin.

"I was late due to traffic," said Asad.

"ZZF loves to be punctual n hates people who r late. She is hard-working n is always serious abt her work. We have never ever seen her smile," said Nida.

Some employees began talking on how ZZF is arrogant, short-tempered, ruthless n all. Asad wondered wat he got into. He wanted to see who ZZF is.

Scene shifts to Zoya's cabin.

"Zoe, I got d contract," said Matt wid a smile.

"Congratulations Matt," said Zoya wid a smile.

D employees have never seen Zoya smile but Zoya smiles only for her family n friends. Zoya hugs Matt happily who hugs her back. Just then, someone knocks d door.

"Come in," said Zoya.

Nida enters wid Asad. Zoya n Matt were still hugging each other.

"She is our boss ZZF," said Nida.

Asad lukd at d woman n was shocked dat d owner of Green Apple online shopping company is none other than Zoya. He understood dat ZZF actually stands for Zoya Zainab Farooqui. He was happy to see her 2 years after she left his house. He was shocked to see a well-built man of 6'3" height who he saw outside wid her was hugging her for a long time. He was jealous at 1st but then recalled how he used to hug Tanveer in front of her not realizing dat Zoya is getn hurt. Asad did not even reacted on seeing her in such short clothes like earlier wen he wud not like even jeans-clad women including her. He wud be more angry wen Zoya sometimes wear short clothes in his house which wud led to several fights even after their engagement. Zoya had decided to stop wearing short clothes. But after her break-up, she realized dat she sud wear wat she likes n sud not change her dressing for anyone so she was back to wearing short clothes. Asad has now changed n realized dat its not his business wat someone wears. Zoya too saw Asad n was shocked. She was not pleased to see Asad. She did not knew dat he was d client wid whom she has a meeting. Matt recognized him as d same man Asad who hurt Zoya a lot n got angry. Zoya n Matt stopped hugging. Zoya stared at him n motioned him n Nida to have a seat.

"U r 5 minutes late for d meeting," said Zoya firmly.

"I was late due to traffic. Also, I came just after getn out of airport so I will surely have jetlag," said Asad.

"Fine," said Zoya.

"Zoya, who is dis man hugging u?" asked Asad.

Zoya got angry on hearing his question.

"U have still not changed ha? Is it wrong wen 2 friends of opposite gender hug? Haven't u ever hugged ur female childhood friend Tanveer or wat? U even hugged her publicly during bus accident. I wonder how wud u have reacted if ur girlfriend or wife was an actress n she had to do romantic scenes wid several male actors? asked Zoya rudely.

Asad was shocked wid her rudeness. Nida was shocked on her reaction.

"How ZZF knows Mr. Khan?" thinks Nida.

"Zoya, its not like dis. I don't have any problem wid 2 friends of opposite gender hugging. I have changed, Zoya. I only wanted to know who he is," replied Asad.

"Its ZZF. Zoya is only for my family n friends. I will see how much u have changed. As for ur question, I will let u know who he is. Meet my friend, Matt. I mean Matthew Anderson. We r friends 4m d time we were in 1st grade dat means we r friends 4m 20 years. He runs a company named Health Machine which is a business of energy drinks, protein shakes, vitamin supplements n other things. I hope u got ur answers now. Lets proceed wid our meeting as u already wasted a lot of time now after cumn here," replied Zoya arrogantly.

Asad was shocked wid her way of speaking. He somewhere knew dat he will not be welcomed warmly by her. He heard a lot abt ZZF being arrogant n short-tempered outside who sud do not tolerate any nonsense. He recalled being himself like dat till 2 years ago which wud scare n even hurt his employees but after Zoya left his house he changed a lot.

"Zoe, main yahi rehta hu taaki tuje ise face karne me problem na ho," said Matt.

"So sweet of u, Matt," said Zoya.

"How does he knows hindi?" asked Asad shockingly.

"He learnt hindi due to some Indian friends including me. Even dat Elena knew hindi na whose deal u broke," replied Zoya.

"Yaa, I understand," said Asad.

"Shall we proceed now wid d meeting?" asked Zoya firmly.

"Yes," replied Asad.

Asad had to deal wid not only Zoya but also wid her friend Matt. D meeting lasted for an hour. Asad noticed how Zoya has really changed. She has not smiled even once. He also noticed dat Matt's eyes were on him most of d times throughout d meeting. Zoya wanted to cancel d deal to get rid of him but she did not wanted to be unfair by mixing personal n professional matters wid him. For dis deal, they had to work 2gthr for a week. Asad was happy he got d deal but for Zoya n Matt it was just a matter of a week.

"Meet me 2mrw here n don't be late again," said Zoya firmly.

"Okay," said Asad.

Asad left d room. Zoya got angry n emotional.

"Why did he came back?" asked Zoya angrily pushing some of d things out of her desk, "Nida, why did not u informed me abt d client's name n business?"

Asad stopped near d door hearing her getn angry at her PA.

"Mam, I tried to inform u twice but u wud got someone's call both d times," replied Nida.

"Only twice?" asked Zoya angrily, "Wat were u doing d entire day? Why did not u informed me at any other time?"

"I forgot, ZZF. I am sorry," apologized Nida.

"Now u forget ur job also. I don't want someone who forgets important things like informing someone of anything. U r fired," said Zoya angrily.

Nida as well as Asad was shocked to hear wat she said.

"ZZF, plz I am sorry," said Nida.

"D person who can forget important things like informing someone who their client is is not worthy of dis job. Wat if u forget again sumthn? So, just leave," said Zoya firmly.

Nida left d cabin sadly. She saw Asad outside d cabin. He felt bad for her. He was shocked to hear how Zoya behaved. He needs to tell her not to fire Nida. He knocks on her door.

"Come in," said Zoya.

Asad came inside.

"Now wat?" asked Zoya.

"Zoya I mean ZZF, plz don't fire Nida cuz of me. I know u did not want to see my face but plz don't take anger on someone else," requested Asad.

"Luk who's talking, Asad? U r saying as if u have never fired someone even for d silliest n unreasonable excuses. U have fired 4 PA before Prasad. U fired an accountant cuz he did pne wrong calculation by mistake. U fired a peon cuz he accidently put sugar in ur coffee. U fired a female receptionist cuz she did not let ur client enter initially wen in reality she did not knew much abt him so she was confused. Aur yaha tum muje gyaan dene aaye ho ki main meri PA ko fire na karu. 1^st luk at urself n tell others wat to do. As for Nida, she did not informed me d entire day abt d client saying she forgot. I have not fired cuz of u so don't have got misconception but cuz of her carelessness. Wat if she forgets to inform me sumthn important again? So, she is fired. Now, u can leave," said Zoya arrogantly.

Asad was shocked as she reminded him abt him firing his employees.

"I have changed. I don't fire anyone for small reasons now," said Asad.

"Did I asked u whether u have changed or not?" asked Zoya rudely.

"U r being too rude to me," said Asad hurtfully.

"Wat she is doing is nothing in front of wat all u did to her," said Matt arrogantly, "Now, u r getn d taste of ur own medicine. Tumne kya socha tha, Asad? Ki tum yaha aaoge aur Zoya tumse gale lagegi aur tumhaari har galtiyaan maaf kar degi? Tumpar phool barsaayegi? U r wrong, Asad. Zoya was wrong to tolerate ur nonsense. She will not tolerate ur nonsense anymore. Zoya was alone in India so u tul advantage of always hurting, insulting, bullying n demeaning her. Not anymore, Asad. Zoya is not alone. If u ever try to hurt Zoya again then I swear I will not spare u. Just get lost 4m here now before I lose my cool."

Asad was ashamed n hurt wid wat Matt said. How can he expect Zoya to be polite to him wen he always hurt her in d past? She was alone in India but still he made her feel like an unwanted guest. Now, he is getn d same treatment 4m Zoya n Matt.

"And remember one thing. Guest hai guest ki tarah reh. Don't ever try to interfere in our matters. Thinking abt guest I remembered how nicely u treated ur guest dat also a female guest just cuz she was modern n wore western clothes," said Zoya firmly.

"Zoya," said Asad.

"ZZF," Zoya reminded him.

"ZZF, I am sorry for everything," said Asad.

"Do u really think ur sorry will change everything?" asked Zoya rudely, "Now, u may be thinking angrily dat how dare Zoya is again wearing short clothes? U did not liked me even in jeans but later had no problem. But u wud always get angry n fight wid me if I wore short clothes. After engagement also, u did not changed so I stopped wearing them to please u but I was wrong. I sud have not stopped wearing sumthn to please anyone not even my so-called fiance. People like u only wants to control their girlfriends, fiancees or wives. After leaving u, I realized dat I sud not change for anyone. So, I am back to wearing short clothes. I even wear bikinis to pool or beach cuz its my choice."

"U r thinking me wrong. I have changed. I am not angry at u for wearing dis cloth. I know I was wrong. I stopped judging people by clothes. Even my sisters wear western clothes now as I realized dat I sud not decide for someone on wat they sud wear," said Asad.

"Asad n changed?" asked Zoya amusingly n laughed sarcastically.

"People like u can never change. U made several mistakes n hurt Zoe many times. U never trusted her even after proved every time wrong dat Zoe was always right just cuz she was modern n wore western clothes. U told her such unpleasant things dat I feel like punching u right here in dis cabin. Every time, my friend thought dat may u changed or will stop judging, u always proved her wrong by being worse than d previous time. U insulted her very badly, demeaned, manhandled her several times to d point of bruising her arms n even slapped her brutally once causing her to cut her knuckle n bleed due to a water utensil. If u had done all dis here u wud have been in jail. U wud even have been in jail in India if Zoe complained against but she did not do which I feel she sud have done. U are a bad example for a man. U show urself as a gentleman to d world but treated n abused ur female guest so badly as if she was a criminal. Now u say dat u r changed," said Matt angrily.

"Ab to tum mujse aur nafrat karte honge na mera past jaankar aur ye jaankar ki main kiski beti hu. U r pretending dat u have changed so dat u can trap me in ur love n take revenge 4m me cuz my father ruined ur family even though I myself hate my father. Par tumhaare abbu doodh k dhule huve nahi hai. Don't forget he cheated ur ammi wid other woman even before dat doll factory incident so even he is responsible for his condition. If he had not cheated on ur ammi wid another woman his family wud not have blackmailed him. He even had a son out of his extramarital affair. Agar tumhe mere tumhaare ghar pe rehte huve pata chalta ki main kiski beti hu aur mere criminal abbu ne kya kiya to tum to muje maar hi daalte the. Now also u must be hating me for being Siddiqui's blood," said Zoya angrily.

"Zoya plz," said Asad as tears fell 4m his eyes, "I beg u to plz stop thinking me wrong. I know I was a jerk n did a lot of mistakes but ur assumptions r wrong. I will never hate u for whose daughter u r . If I was like my earlier self I wud have hated u. But now I have really changed. Plz, stop thinking me wrong. Please believe me."

"Why sud we believe u ha?" asked Matt rudely, "Did u ever gave Zoe a chance to explain herself? U always jumped to conclusions never using ur brain. U have done so many mistakes so do u really think we will easily believe u & ur crocodile tears? D tears u r shedding r not nothing in front of how much Zoe had shed cuz of u. U said dat u wud have hated Zoe if u knew her truth earlier. Dat means if u got to know d truth then u wud have called off d engagement, divorced her or even left her wen she wud have gotten pregnant. U wud have hated Zoe for being d daughter of ur enemy."

Asad did not knew wat to say. Matt said d right possibilities of wat he wud have done.

"Ur silence confirmed abt urself, Asad," said Zoya straight in his eyes.

"Zoya, I wud have been a jerk if I wud have even done wat Matt said but it wud have been only my loss as after dat not only u but my only family wud have hated me," said Asad.

"My family clearly told u never to have any contact wid me but cuz of my PA's mistake, u ended up here. So, pay attention to only d deal till u r here," said Zoya firmly.

"Zoya, I know I did a lots of mistakes. But I really love u. Plz, give me one more chance. I will never repeat my mistakes. I will never hurt u in any way," requested Asad.

"One chance?" asked Zoya furiously, "I have lost count of how many chance I gave u in d past. I always forgave u however wrong u did thinking u will change but u never changed became became more worse every time. U always tuk me for granted thinking dat Zoya is a naive, innocent n stupid girl who u can take for granted n treat like a punching bag as she will forgive u every time wid ur 1 guilty look, 2 tears or 1 sorry. Sorry to burst ur bubble, Asad. I am not dat abnormal Zoya anymore. Yes, I was abnormal to take everything lightly n forgive u every time. U always treated me like a doormat n tuk me for granted. Not anymore, Asad. I will never give you a chance again to hurt me. U even supported ur step-sister's dowry by gifting her future in-laws a house n some days before dat supporting dowry by teln Ayaan dat its okay to bend for ur sister's happiness n smile wen he complained abt price tag issue. Wat happiness ur sister will get in d house where her future in-laws always insult n demean her n taunt on her skin tone n also ask her family again n again for huge dowries. U too r horrible like to never let anyone know dat ur sister sister sud not marry a man who never stands up for her n whose future in-laws always hurt her. "Asad, u better leave 4m here as ur presence will hurt Zoe more," said Matt firmly.

Asad left his cabin sadly.

"Why did he came here again?" asked Zoya wid tears in his eyes.

Asad who was just outside d cabin heard her question.

"Zoe, plz don't cry I can't see u sad n in tears. U sud not shed tears for those who don't deserve them," replied Matt in a soothing voice as he held her hands.

Asad was sad at wat he saw. He claimed to love her but he always her. Her friend can't see her in tears but he cud not even bcum her friend let alone her love.

"1st Akram whom I started liking wen he came to New York n we dated for some time n then Asad who always hurt me even breaking me self-confidence. Both d men hurt me. I don't believe in love anymore. These both me lost all my belief in love. I don't think I will ever be able to love anyone," said Zoya wid tears in her eyes.

Matt wiped her tears n said, "Zoe dear, u sud not waste ur time thinking abt Akram n Asad. U sud only focus on ur urself, family, friends n work. U sud not get weak due to Asad."

"Matt, u r such a nice friend. I wish u were there wid me in India wen I all alone n got hurt by Asad again n again," said Zoya sadly.

"I wish d same, dear. Then I wud have not let u stay in dat house for longer n brought u back here in New York," said Matt.

Asad was guilty for hurting Zoya a lot. He is happy dat she has a friend like Matt who is standing up for her n comforting her which he sud have done wen Zoya was wid him.

"I wish I was never a naive girl wanting to know abt my father who I thought had some reason of leaving ammi n me. Aapi was right dat too much positivity is wrong. If I had left after Akram incident along wid my aapi n jeeju I wud not have lived in Asad's house. Then I wud never have been hurt by him while living in his house," said Zoya.

"Zoe, wat happened was in d past. Glad dat u r no longer dat naive girl. I had tried to tell u not to luk for ur father but ur too much positivity failed to make u understand," said Matt.

"I sud have listened to u," said Zoya.

"Well, now smile. U don't luk good being sad," said Matt wid a smile.

Zoya smiled at him. Asad saw her smiling for d 1st time since he came here n was happy to see her smile. He wished dat he sud have been also d reason of her smile.

"Ya Allah, plz give me a chance to prove Zoya dat I really love her n dat I have really changed. I know I hurt Zoya a lot but I only want one chance," prayed Asad.

He left 4m there to return to his hotel room.

A/N: I know I made Zoya a terror. But wasn't there so many stories in several forums of hero being a terror due to even ridiculous reason or so-called bad pasts then why not show Zoya a terror here. Zoya hating Dilshad is justified as she never did much to stop Asad from hurting her. When a guest comes to our house, we will be scolded if we say or do something to hurt them so Dilshad too would have done a lot to firmly tell Asad to respect his guest. If some aunty who I respect a lot will tell me to marry her son for some challenge, I don't think I will love her again the same way. What happened in 2 years will be revealed later. Zoya should have had a friend or relative with her in India to show her the right way and help her in her problems as she was really alone in India. I again remind dat in this OS, Zoya had met Akram in New York before marriage and Akram had lied to her family about having his own business but his truth came out on the wedding day that Akram is actually an employee in some office and lied to them to for their money leading Zoya, Anwar and Zeenat to break the marriage. Zoya had liked Akram in New York as they dated for some time but not still fell in love with him which she hoped to fall after marriage and Akram too pretended to like her. Zeenat supported Zoya in running unlike the show where she wanted Zoya to marry Akram even after knowing his true colours and about his goon type relatives which raised a question about her behaviour as an elder sister not caring about her younger sister. In this story, Zoya had got more time to realize in 2 years that her falling for a man like Asad who always hurt her was a mistake she has done. Its not easy to forgive someone who has hurt you so much and always took you for granted. Zoya has become arrogant so that no one takes advantage of her good nature and takes her for granted.
