Urghh? Mom, today we have a late start!! Please go na!!'' She yelled in sleep and again fell in deep slumber with the threads of dreams in her eyes, and maybe the reality!
They say marriage is a blissful connection between two souls. And today was the day when two heroic historic figures were getting united by the single thread of love, care and concern called "marriage".
The princess of Ujjaini and prince of Magadh were about to exchange seven vows, each a promise to oneself that they would live together in every situation whether the sun shone brightly or dark clouds invaded their life and a promise that they would become the strength of each other in the years to come by.
He knew she would be his weapon in all his physical, emotional and social war whereas she knew he would be her shield, ready to protect her at any cost.
The day was a pleasant one when their worlds were being united. The two states, Ujjaini and Magadh never were in good terms but with this marriage everyone looked forward for a relation of friendship and understanding between the two kingdoms. Today not only two people were being united but two families, two nations were coming to be one.
It was right after the sunrise when Sai's time machine crashed landed into a plain valley. It took her a lot of time and a great amount of effort to come out of the machine. As soon as she came out, she started to admire the scenario. The place was heavenly. Never on earth had she seen such a beautiful sight.
But something was strange, the place was completely deserted. She looked around and at a distance saw an old man hurrying towards somewhere.
She quickly got hold of the man and asked why the place was so deserted. "Today everyone in this village and all the nearby villages have gone to the city to attend the great Yuvraj Ashok's wedding with Rajkumari Ahankhara."
"AshKara?" Sai asked dreamily and the man looked at her confused.
"Dear lady if you want you can come along with me but please hurry up. We don't have enough time! Saying thus both the old man and Sai headed towards the palace of Magadh.

The bride's anklets made a low ringing sound which was definitely not clear enough to be taken off by anyone-all except the anxious groom. For him, the sound was as pleasant as a soothing rainfall after the long months of the harsh summer. His heart knew well how despairingly he had waited for this moment-when she would become only and only his, probably from the very day he had seen her first.
His eyes slowly moved upwards, from her anklets to her bridal attire-her dark red lehenga cholisequenced with precious stones, then to her heavy diamond neck-piece, her gold earrings and then her face as radiant as the moon. All of it she was wearing was beautiful, but for him it all looked stunning because it was worn by her, the unrivalled queen of his heart.
Her sakhis led her gradually to the mandap and had her gently seated right beside him. She gave him a smile. Ah! For that one smile he could let go off all the luxuries of this world and the next.
Next, the Panditji asked them to leave their seats for the varmala.
This is when a young girl, barely twenty reaches the hall. Luckily for her, one of the bride's sakhishands her over a garland made of fragrant marigolds and roses.
"Hand it over to Panditji!" She said, "Quick!"
And before she knew it, Saishree found her racing towards the mandap to help the couple out. Halfway through however, the prince had snatched it from her!
"Thank you, my sweet lady! " He winked and Sai looked on with wonder at the two, Ashok, the prince of Patliputra and Ahankara, the princess of Ujjaini, how gorgeous they looked, as if, just made for each other.
She couldn't believe that she was here. She couldn't believe that she was attending the wedding of Ashkara! She couldn't believe that she had a role to play in their wedding and she couldn't believe her prince Ashok had just taken the varmala from her hands.
She had almost forgotten to step back as she dreamily stared and admired the lovely couple she so madly shipped but was apparently pulled back in time as they exchanged glances and garlands.
After the kanyadan, Panditji asked for the Groom's sister for the ganthbandhan ceremony.
"Offo! Probably Panditji doesn't know Ashok doesn't have a sister." Sai thought and looked around puzzled as she wondered how they would deal with it.
But then Ashok didn't seem tensed at all! He looked back, scanned the guests and halted at her.
"My sister, would you please do thisganthbandhan?" He asked smiling at her all the while.
"Me?" Now this was something totally unexpected and Sai stood shocked for a while, unable to move but he didn't seem to give up on that.
"Won't you do that much for your brother?" He asked again hopefully and Sai found herself agreeing because she couldn't refuse him.
She stepped ahead, and tied the ends of the couple's clothes together in a knot while Ahankara gave her an amusing and grateful look. She united two hearts that were already lost to each other, she felt at the top of the world and her happiness and excitement knew no bounds.
Ganthbandhan done, the two began to take the seven pheras and the seven vows of togetherness while Sai excitedly showered flower petals on them.
But again she heard her mother's voice calling her out. And all the petals from her hand smeared away...
