The music of our generation is sub-standard: Neetu Chandra

What is on your I-pod these days?
The classical song, 'Dhoom Taanaa Kaise Main Tumse Nain Milao Sajna', from the film, 'Om Shanti Om'. The song has not been shown in promos yet.

What kind of music do you like, and what irritates you?
I love classical music. And music never irritates. It always soothes.

According to you, which film has better music – 'Om Shanti Om', 'Saawariya', or 'Jab We Met'?
I think all of them have great music. It is a little difficult to choose between these three. 'Mauja Hi Mauja', from 'Jab We Met'; 'Dhoom Taanaa', from 'Om Shanti Om'; and 'Dekho Chand Aaya', from 'Saawariya' - these are my favourites.

Name five of your all-time favourite songs.
I have quite a few, actually, and choosing five amongst them is difficult. Anyway, here goes – 'Bade Achche Lagte Hain', 'Jhoka Hawa Ka', 'Mann Ki Lagan', 'Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam', and Marc Anthony's 'You Sang To Me'.

And the one song that makes you dance.
I am a trained kathak dancer, so classical music makes me dance anywhere.

Do you like remixes, or do you prefer the original songs?
Original songs, of course.

Your favourite romantic song.
'Bade Achche Lagte Hain', from 'Rajnigandha'.

According to you, is today's music better than music of the past, or is it the same, or is it worse?
Much worse. Every generation has had different kinds of films, and therefore different kinds of music, but this generation has music much below the expected standard.

Music earlier had life in it, and meaning, but those things do not exist anymore.

Neetu Chandra in Ismail Darbar's album

By IndiaFM News Bureau, February 2, 2007 - 02:28 IST

Her second film releases today and Neetu Chandra is now focussing on her future plans. She will soon be seen in music director Ismail Darbar's forthcoming private album called Rasiya Sajan. She has shot for a music video of this album. Rasiya Sajan is Ismail Darbar's first album that will be out in the last week of February.

Neetu sounds excited, 'I have done modelling and theatre before films. This was a very good offer plus its Ismail Darbar's album. This all excited me to go for this video'.

So what's up on the movie front post Traffic Signal? There has been a long gap between her first and second release. Will this continue even with her third film? 'Not really', replies the Garam Masala girl. 'I have been getting many interesting offers these days. I have signed two movies but I am waiting for the official announcements to be made'
