Besides if story was that of a unconventional person or women who wanted to live life on their own term, have many paramours, wore less, had pre-marital intimacy etc etc...then it is very welcome as women absolutely deserve same freedom as men...but using an actress or the actress agreeing to be used or appear as a sex object to save a show is not much appreciated, specially when she is completely devoid of talent and she wants to make up for it by skin show...it does not work. There is no short cut to hard work and talent.

As it was said Some people can settle for mediocrity as long as the package is beautiful.
Some can't.

Calling fat isn't body shaming. There are types of people - slim, curvy, fat, extra large and there's nothing wrong in being any type.
Whereas Atre's character got questioned here... Over a TV SHOW!!! We can see an actor's body and judge what's their body type but here Atre's character got assassinated and she got called cheap, indecent and the new one sex object. That's limit of all namecalling.
I again ask you to go and watch Hari Mirch Lal Mirchi - She wore all short skirts, halter tops, capries, shorts and no one ever called her sex object. Like I said in my very first post in this topic - Vulgarity lies in eyes of beholder.

No one called her sex object because she was not doing it to save her face as this is her only way to save show as she cannot act...you can not get the simple thing...calling fatty, aunty etc is of course body shaming and degradation.

What? Calling a fat as fat is degrading?? :O Then calling a non actor as non actor is degrading as well. 😆 Now I am thinking what word you use to describe Angoori's MIL body size since calling her fat would be degrading her
And I remember even you posted in a thread that Shilpa is fat but doe eyed innocent beauty etc

And why "no one called her sex object for..." I know no one called. Don't see any other Shilpa fan namecalling as cheap as sex object. Even ibnbatuta seem to be misunderstood and he cleared his intention in a classy manner so no need to drag other Shilpa fans. I am sure you're speaking on just your behalf and not all Shilpa fans.
Also since you and me are still here and still fighting, I hope you can spare a moment and show me the personal attack I did on you. I asked you to show me that few days ago as well.
And also in another thread, I saw you directing to this thread saying I called her fatty grandma cow...Can you show me where I called her cow? Waiting for your reply. 😃

..why run behind people in order to change their opinion and argue without end - look what is your problem...running behind us and trying to jump on our throats will not work...just say your say and let people say their say...if she acts bad, show is ruined, so will definitely say and she acts bad and hides it with skin show...thats a sad fact...so stop shadowing...it is not worth it...i will not change my stance no matter how you try...i have a right to opinion and i said what i said...i am ready to see bold things if talent is present and story demands so...but if she thinks glam fact can hide her lacuna she is wrong...

p.s- you need to learn to read properly...I said Shilpa is curvy and not fat and more beautiful and i also said time and again my objection is to exposure to hide bad acting and not exposure itself...go get some rest and do not stalk I don't remember who exactly calls her names, but it is you forum people..i have nothing against you...i am here to air what i think...so lets agree to disagree...you will not get anymore replies because i am not explainable to you...

I said she played grandma...you're saying she doesn't...why are you deleting the show from her resume? 😆
And I just said even you called her fat...I didn't say you degraded her. Its you yourself admitting you degraded Shilpa(and Atre as well) and attacked me.
I still don't feel calling anyone fat is degrading her.
And asking for attack you made is jumping on throat? Come on, you can do better than that and infact come and show me where I attacked you and where I called Shilpa cow. You'll win!!! I'll be proved a BIG FAT LIAR and I'll no option left other than to leave.
And who're "us" you're referring to? Other than you?
And when did I try to change your opinion? I just posted my opinion and you tried to change mine and gave opinions on my opinion and thats how it started.
All I am asking is to just show me where I called Shilpa cow and made personal attacks since you accused me of it. After you show it main ye topic kya ye forum hi chhor dungi. Promise! please show me 😊

Finally you replied to me. I was wondering I made so many posts in your topic, you showed your siilent support to another member but never came to have a debate with me over it. I am all up and present for it. Anyway its irrelevant piece.

@ Red - Nope. I don't see acting as the main topic subject. It was backseat, the whole front page is just about "decency" and judgement on basis of clothes. After some pages, there were talks of acting and now, suddenly its all about just acting - nothing to do with clothes.
I don't find anyone claiming that Atre is doing better work than Shilpa. While Angoori was excellent with Shilpa, its poor version is played by Atre. Even I haven't watched Kasturi, though I've watched Do Hanso Ka Joda and Chidiyaghar and she was absolutely fine in both of them. Maybe coz they were somewhere a extension of her real self and she didn't need much acting.

@ Turquoise - I absolutely agree with that point!!! Some people can't settle with mediocrity especially after watching a full package (Shilpa) for a long time, while enjoying and appreciating her acting talent.

@ Blue - Thanks for clarifying that!! because this topic comes across as degrading and judging woman on basis of clothes. I am not the only one feeling it. Many others have felt and written the same. Maybe what you want to say doesn't result in the same meaning you had in your mind. I don't think Atre will feel degraded by it. She's an actress and I am sure she must've listened worse than this. Those people can't react on each and anyone.

@ Purple - Nope. I don't have a habit to degrade others. Unless someone else degrade me.

Unlike what I was accused by some another member, I called Shilpa fat not to insult her (heck there's nothing even insulting in being a body type - slim or fat) but to make a point about her selection of clothes. Check it out for yourself. http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4625460&PID=133742686&#p133742686
I never called Shilpa ugly, Atre's got called. I said that Shilpa played grandma in her last show (Do Dil Ek Jaan she played Daya Maayi) but it was said I called her grandma.
Other than that, all I said was for Angoori's version which Shilpa played, and nothing to Shilpa herself. Mind you Angoori is just an imaginary character who has nothing to do with reality. Whereas Shilpa and Atre are real beings. I didn't call Shilpa as cheap C grade unlike Atre's got called.
And I've made personal remarks on Shilpa's body and looks - I've called her mesmerizing and beautiful.
As for moral policing - It has to do with a question you asked in your topic that - Does any Indian woman wear these kind of clothes outside their bedroom? You asked this question and indirectly implying (I think so, tell me if I am wrong) that no one does that. Now we've enough girls like me and others who said they even wear shorts, this decency on clothes will sound offensive. This topic has a question for Indian women so I don't see how its a POV. And well, from what I've seen in India (and read about the world), judging women on basis of clothes is called moral policing that's why I used the term. But since you said your motive wasn't to pass judgement on basis of clothes - I apologize... I am sorry to use that term.
And yes, I do have problems with moral policing. Specially men who comments on how women should wear Indian culture clothes while themselves dressed in a funky T-shirt and skinny jeans dropping from waist. (This isn't directed at you. Since you asked my problem with moral policing, its something to do with real life)

I had no idea you were so keen to debate with me. 😊 Haven't been following all the replies so put a like here and there.

Yes, you're right. The front page does discuss clothes. I will tell the truth-I made this topic to rile people up. I have an agenda. I wanted people to demand a better actress. And this kind of thing instantly gets people's goats'.

Well, perception of body type is subjective. if we put Shilpa next to Atre who is a petite body type, then she's relatively fat. But IMO at least she's not fat as such. Therefore I would never use this term for her. But I would use it for Ramkali because she's definitely fat. But only if I was describing her you know. I take great care as a rule to look at things as objectively as I can. I can't help it. It's part of who I am.

I appreciate your clarification on Shilpa but there was no need.

As for the last part of this post, I clarified many times that I have no problems when women wear shorts, tank tops, or bikinis at the beach or swimming pool. But I'm yet to see many woman wear the kind of clothes that present Angoori is wearing, on the streets. Sure you see some native young women wear cleavage baring blouses and you usually also notice the lecherous looks of the men around them. Women wear backless cholis and see through sarees too at parties and all. But IMO most women do not wear these kind of clothes in the sabji mandi or the mohalla.

It's not a common sight for me at least and I've travelled a fair bit in India.

Then there's also that neighbourhood Aunty who will be wearing a normal saree but will "accidentally" drop the pallu when you're around. Make of that what you will. (Disclaimer:This last comment absolutely bears no relation to the show or any actors.)
