Chapter 2 - Echos and Memories

All the memories came back rushing to Sonakshi, oh how much she misses spending time with him. The only thing going on in her mind when she was walking back to her hostel, after her encounter with Dev, was why did he not recognize her? Did he not remember her? How was that even possible? They had got separated just about a year back. You don't forget someone who you had spent 3 years so easily? Right? Or do you?

All the promises he had made, everything he had said and done...was it all not real? Did he lie to her? Because the Dev she knew was not the Dev she had met today.

It's almost a year, but looking at him, it just feels like they had parted ways yesterday. Nothing had changed, except for the fact that he didn't recognize her, and his beard was all grown out.

"Dev! Will you trim your beard or do you want me to do something about it? You do realize I am not in good terms with it...right?" Said Sonakshi expressing her dislike towards his beard.

"Why? Why should I trim it? Is it harming you in anyway? Why do you have a problem with it?" Dev very well knew what was the problem, but he was in full mood to tease her.

"If you think I don't know what are you trying to do here, you're wrong! You know my answer already" said Sona understanding what was he trying to here.

Grabbing her hand he pulled her closer to him, slightly rubbing his cheek on hers, " Is it paining? Poking?"

"No..nothing.. It's okay..do whatever you want" pushing and running out the room went a blushing Sona.

Sonakshi just sat there smiling at all the wonderful times she had spent with him. But it doesn't look like Dev remembers even a little bit of what they had. He didn't even recognize her... What happened? Forget that... What happened that we got separated nobody knows...

"Dev! Where are you Dev? When will you come? I've been waiting forever now"

Again he heard this voice echo in his ears, the same voice that has been haunting him for the last few months. Where does it come from, why does it happen...no clue, and that's what is bothering him.

"Dev! I do not want this girl in my house anymore! She is good for nothing. Doesn't know how to respect me? Don't know how to talk to elders? Don't follow my rules? The one who doesn't obey me, doesn't stay in my house!"

Dev was sweating and shivering both at the same time. His head was throbbing with sharp pains at the back of his head.

"I haven't done any wrong to her Dev... I don't know what does she expect me to do.. I have tried everything now and still she has her same attitude with me...I..I just don't know what to do"

Dev holds his head tight and shut his ears trying to silent his screaming thoughts. He was already very tensed and annoyed by his mothers behaviors...and then these voices that always are present at the back of his mind.

Having no control over himself made him so weak that he couldn't stop the tears that rolled down his cheek.

"Where do I go... What do I do... I have never felt so tired in my whole life..." Crying silently.. Dev just kept taking it all in and slowly drifted off to sleep silencing his thoughts... Until the next day.
