Actress Vidya Balan went gaga over Pakistani dramas saying the "writing, production values, make-up and performances" of the shows are just par excellence.

She also lauded the work of female actors and for adding "grace" with a "realistic" touch to their performances.

The "Paa" actress took to Twitter on Saturday to share her views.

She posted: "I am liking my new habit of watching Zindagi channel in the mornings after my night shoots...'Kankar' is ace. I am hooked to Kankar', Mere Harjai' and Ek Mohabbat Ke Baad'...The writing, production values, make-up and performances are just par excellence."

Vidya, busy with "TE3N" and "Kahaani 2", added: "So nice to see good quality television! I particularly like the female actors...so beautiful and graceful...and their portrayals are extremely realistic."

Zindagi channel is a Hindi channel which airs Pakistani dramas as well as serials from other countries in India.

Kankar is THE BEST one they're telecasting right now.
A show that is relatable and gives a strong message.

Wish Indian shows had a female lead as awesome as the one in this one.She stands up for herself unlike Indian shows where female leads would tolerate all the torture from their husbands and become mahaan by trying to make their husbands better persons instead of JUST LEAVING them.

happy to note that vidya is able to distinguish between quality television shows, and than the saas bahu illogical crap shown in almost every hindi channel.

Kankar is just superb and Sanam Baloch is such an awesome actress. Her best acting is from Daastan as Bano, she was brilliant in that drama.
I wont spoil for those who have not seen the drama, but in later episode there is a scene which I am telling you all the women I know cheered. This happens between Sikander and her.

For people who may like Kankar, I'd recommend a show called Doraha next. It was filmed years earlier, but same writer, same-ish theme, even better screenplay and treatment...and amusingly enough, Sanam Baloch plays a diametrically different role in it which will blow your mind 😆

Doraha and Kankar are quite similar in their themes..but Doraha's execution is way better (no guessing why).

Couldn't agree more on this with you! I know I'm extremely hard on Umera Ahmed out of my love for what she's really capable of, but truthfully Kankar is one of her least well made shows and if even that can get so much traction...the others really are masterpieces that deserve to be seen by a very, very wide audience 😆 IMO, the tight screenplay and sophisticated treatment of Doraha is almost a landmark when it comes to this issue.
