Hey Guys !!!

Its me Anu!! i m not sure how many of you remember me as i have been incognito for a while as have been most other members

but its nice to see the forum still active and i m catching up on all the PMs i received and the new stories here

I have sem hols now and as a result will be online most of the time

yippe !!

i have written one os for manveer and wrote another a few weeks back and have only jus gotten around to posting it

do check it out

so without further ado i present "in care of" a manveer one shot

Devgarh palace , Mumbai Rajmata's Study

"Good morning Daadi Saab " greeted Uday . "aree Uday beta aap please andar aaeyay (uday beta you ? Please come in ) " ji daadi Saab voh hum woh tender Ki proposal Ka file laayaen hain Jo aapne maanga tha . Isme pura project proposal hai or bohot hi low price quote kiya Hua hai ...tender Devgarh ko hi melega " ( daadi Saab I have brought the proposal file which you requested .it contains the full project proposal and has quoted a very low price ... The tender will be given to Devgarh I m sure) " " thank you uday beta" replied daadi saab " Hume umeed hi Ki ye project Devgarh ko hi melegi . Par aapko aane Ki kya avashaktha thi aap Kisi aur ke haath file bhijva daytae" ( I HOPE DEVGARH GETS THIS PROJECT .BUT YOU NEEDNT HAVE COME UDAY DEAR YOU COULD HAVE SENT THE FILE THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE .) "ji daadi Saab par Hu khud aapko yeh file Dena chaahte the " replied uday (I WANTED TO GIVE THIS FILE TO YOU MYSELF ) Daadi Saab gave uday a fond smile the kind a mother gives to her favourite son or the kind a grandmother gives to her favourite grandchild . She had always been fond of uday from the time he had been born . Part of her had known that he would one day take over the reigns of Devgarh from her even though he was not her grandchild . She hoped now that her precious grand daughter Manyata had returned there would soon be a marriage between uday and manyata further strengthening the Devgarh jaigarh alliance .Manyata did not know about her roka ( engagement ) with Uday and she thought that it would be best if she was informed of it later after manyata had gotten to know him . As much as daadi Saab wanted a marriage alliance between Devgarh and jaigarh she was loathed to force uday and manyata into a marriage with no understanding or love . This was the reason she had refused to consider jai and uday s roka . Jai viewed uday as a brother and would never have agreed even if she was forced to ... " daadi saab voh Hume ..." (DAADI SAAB I ) came manyata s voice from the doorway of her study .. Mrinalini Devi stopped her wandering thoughts and turned her gaze to her eldest grand daughter . She was not the only one to do so .Uday had heard footsteps in the corridor and somehow instinctively known it wad her . Manyata . His childhood sweetheart . His best friend . His fianc and the future maharani of jaigarh . Though he had to admit she hadn't been made aware of the latter . As soon as he heard her voice his body immediately gravitated towards her soft voice his eyes searching for her and endeavouring to meet her gaze . He took in the sight of her before him she had stormed into her grandma s study without even a knock he thought amused . But it suited her to barge into her grandma s study without so much as a knock while it suited him to walk into her room as if he owned it . Perhaps that was why she hadn't ever complained about his lack of knocking the door when entering her room as she seemed to have the habit of forgoing the same courtesy . Though uday had to admit there were only two rooms he would enter without bothering to knock first . His choti s it was pointless to knock as she always seemed to know when it was her dada visiting her . And manyata s his best friend he hadn't knocked at her door when he was five and he certainly wasn't going to start now that he was 21 he quite liked barging in lime he owned the place and catching her unawares . While his mind was going at a million miles per hour his eyes were drinking in the sight of manyata . She was clad in a soft blue flowy anarkali that moved around her like waves on a calm sea whenever she moved . Her hair was in her natural brown curls flowing freely about her face and down her back . She was beautiful . Uday agreed that he may have been a little biased but nevertheless it was the truth . She had a simple soft beauty about her that drew others in . He looked at her face wishing she would look into his eyes and was immediately granted his wish Manyata strode purposefully towards her daadi Saab s study . She thought fondly about the people whom she had recently discovered were her family . She had been brought up in London and knew she was adopted but her adopted mother had never known about her true family and so she couldn't inform manyata . She had come to India after her adopted mom had told her that she had found her in India and took her London after adopting her. She had coming here hoping to find out at least a tinee amount about her original family . It wasn't that she was unhappy with her mom she had taken in manyata when she was three and raised her for sixteen years . In all those years manyata had felt nothing other than live from her mom . But manyata had a childlike curiousity about her and that had brought her to India . She had been overjoyed to find her birth family ( well maybe saying they had found her would be more accurate ) . She was learning little things about her family every day . It had been nearly a month since she had been here and today manyata had decided she didn't want to stay at the palace . She wanted to go out .somewhere . Anywhere . She didn't care . She was feeling trapped in the palace . It was with this thought in mind that she decided to visit daadi Saab . She entered the study and spoke " daadi Saab voh main" DAADI SAAB I ) and her sentenced hung in mid air as she finally saw that her daadi Saab wasn't alone . Uday was with her . She was momentarily taken aback but then thought it wasn't unusual for uday to be here . Infact he had been coming daily since she had been brought to the palace or maybe even before that who knew . But she liked to think Uday came dialy to see her his childhood best friend and get to know her better . She always looked forward to seeing uday . She could easily see how they would have been together as children and knew that they would be best friends again . Perhaps they always were and never stopped despite the sixteen years apart . Uday and her just clicked she thought with a smile . Then she remembered where she was . Rather thaan apologising for barging into the study when her daadi Saab was clearly busy she instead turned towards uday and questioned " Uday aap kab aaye ? ( uday when did you come ? ) " bas abhi aaye princess " ( JUS NOW PRINCESS ) . he replied with a smile . She smiled at him . ( aap office jaa rahen hain Kya ? ) ARE YOU GOING TO YOUR OFFICE ? manyata enquired "Hume bhi aapke saath le chaliye na " ( PLEASE TAKE ME WITH YOU ) she pleaded and threw in her puppy dog eyes for good measure . She looked Uday in the eye and gave a pleading look with wide puppy dog eyes that glistened as if with tears that threatened to fall if she was refused . Uday internally sighed . He found it hard to refuse her anything but when she was looking at him like that with pleading eyes and such an innocent face and wide open honest trusting eyes he doubted he was capable of telling her no . But then he had to refuse her . Today . He himself wasn't going to his office . He had suffered from a heavy cold last night and woke up with a fever . Now the Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh of jaigarh was nt a mere common man and so things like common cold didn't affect him . But ofcourse he was a Yuvraaj and he had allergies . He was unfortunate enough to come across the loathed flower which caused him to sneeze continuously . Honestly the nerve of that flower !! He never bothered to learn its name after all he Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh couldn't be bothered to learn the name of a measly flower even if that measly flower brought with it a wave of sneezes and brought him to his knees in a flur oh hachchooos . That damn flower!! He vowed to make the gardener end its pathetic existence . It did not deserve to live stupid flower making him sneeze like a common guy and to top it off landing him with a cold . He could have considered forgiving the flower if he hadn't gotten a fever . He was Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh and he didn't fall sick . Ever. But when he did it was very rare and enough to leave him in a weakened state while it lasted . He hadn't wanted to abandon his bed this morning . But daadi Saab had requested the file and he could have sent it with choti or.someone else but then he wouldn't have been able to see manyata .so despite running a what was probably a high fever though he tricked his brain into thinking it was nothing he had come to the rajmahal jus so he could see manyata . And now she wanted to accompany him to his office . Uday would but thanking his lucky stars but as he himself was in no condition to go anywhere today except for his bed he cursed his luck instead . She had to choose today of all days to ask . He told " nahi manyata aaj hum office nahi jaa rahein I DON'T FEEL WELL . " in a soft placating tone that one might use with a stubborn child while telling the child it couldn't have its way . After all he didn't want to tell her no . Infact Uday had a slinking suspicion that is she pressed him again then fever or not he would be going wherever she wanted to with her . But Manyata didn't ask him again . Her eyes widened when she heard him say he wasn't feeling well . She quickly strode in his direction and in a few seconds was standing right in front of him . She reached up and placed her palm on his forehead first and then on his throat . " Your burning uday " she declared a little shocked. She then turned to daadi Saab . Daadi Saab who was silently observing the conversion between two of the people she could undoubtedly call her most favourite was surprised when manyata turned towards her with burning eyes . She hid her surprise well and hoped her granddaughter had inherited only her stubborness from her and not her anger . But her hopes were dashed as manyata spoke " how could you daadi Saab ? Why did you ask Uday to bring you a file when he has such a high fever ? Is the file more important than uday ? " she questioned relentlessly the fire in her eyes accompanied by the fire in her words . " aisi baat nahi hain manyata beta Hume nahi pata Ki uday bemar hain" IT'S NOT LIKE THAT MANYATA DEAR I DID NOT KNOW THAT UDAY WAS UNWELL . Replied daadi Saab her words oozing calmness The fiery manyata disappeared and caring manyata took her place .she visibly softened and once again turned toward uday "achcha princess daadi Saab hum chalte hain " PRINCESS DAADI SAAB I LL LEAVE NOW . Uday spoke " aap kahi nahi jaarahein uday ." YOU ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE UDAY " YOU WILL STAY HERE TILL YOU GET BETTER " declared manyata . With that she grabbed uday s arm and dragged him out of the study . Uday was momentarily taken aback after manyata s declaration and more so when she grabbed his arm . He feel the sift skin of hers touching his through the fabric of his shirt . He had thought several times of how it would be to hold her hand but hand never imagined he would be dragged like this by her . But in retrospect he should have . Always expect the unexpected when it comes to manyata . They were nearing his room ( yes uday has a room at Devgarh palace where do you think he slept when he stayed the night ? Manyata s room ? Wait don't answer that ) when uday finally regained controlof his senses though if questioned later he would vehementally deny ever losing control . Yuvraaj Udayveer was always in control even when drunk and certainly manyata grabbing his hand and leading him to a room wasn't intoxicating and robbing him of his senses. Nope not at all . "PRINCESS I SHOULD GO I LL REST AT UDAY NIVAS " he told manyata . She turned to him while pushing him into the room and simultaneously replied ( she can multitask ) " NO UDAY YOU WILL REST HERE WHERE I CAN TAKE CARE OF YOU .NO ARGUMENTS GET INTO BED NOW . " "As you wish princess . Who am I to argue when a beautiful girl commands me to get into bed ? " he said with a wink Manyata rolled her eyes and tried to ignore the little blush that crept its way onto her cheek without her permission . " just lie down uday and no more flirting else I ll give you a yucky tasting kada to "help" you get better ." She watched as uday slowly laid down on the bed and walked up to him. She was taking care of her best friend when he was sick . Yes that was it nothing else. But then why were there butterflies fluttering in her stomach ?

Manyata purposely began searching in the drawers in the bedside table for a thermometer. She knew that all rooms that were in use even once a year in the rajmahal had a first aid box and she was determined to find the one which should be in this room . She had thought of looking in the drawers first and if her search did not yield any fruit then she planned on raiding the cupboards . But she found what she was looking for in the bottom drawer . She took out the first aid box and pried it open . She fished inside it for a thermometer and finally pulled it out . She left the box on top of the table and turned towards Uday thermometer in hand . Meanwhile Uday had been watching the antics of his princess with a smile on his face . He laid more comfortably against his pillow and waited for her to approach him thermometer in hand . And that was exactly what she did . She carefully took his temperature all the while alternating her gaze between the thermometer and the clock in the room . Uday mentally sighed he was hoping she would look at him not at the stupid little thermometer. He was the patient . She was supposed to pay attention to him and what was she doing ? Staring at clocks and thermometers . He impatiently waited for whatever time Manyata was waiting for to pass so that she could finally see how much fever he had and then focus her whole attention on him Manyata finally pulled the thermometer towards her and gazed at it . It read 101 . And Uday her best friend had been planning on going to udaynivas with a fever this high . She mused he would probably be lying on his bed with a laptop working from home and deluding himself into thinking that it was"resting" . That was not going to happen she reasoned . She was here and she would take proper care of him . She hoped daadi Saab had already made a call to doctor Saab otherwise she would see about calling him . Uday definitely needed some medicines for a fever this high . She went out and called seema ji . Sbe informed her about uday and asked her bring her a bowl and cold water and some wash cloths . She also instructed her to enquiry if doctor Saab had been informed . With this done she re entered the room and lifted a chair positioning it beside uday s bed she settled herself on it and smiled at uday . " daadi Saab must have called doctor uncle uday he will be here soon I think " she informed him . Uday smiled back at her finally pleased to have her focus at him and looking into his eyes . Then suddenly he coughed . " uday !! " exclaimed manyata . She went near him and helped him sit up . She quickly grabbed a glass of water and made him sip from it all the while using her other had to gently rub his back Part of his brain registered that he had stopped coughing and was instead taking small sips of water . The other part the bigger one was focused on the small warm hand he felt on his back gently patting him . He felt her soft soothing touch and yearned for more . He wasn't lusting after her but he yearned for these simple touches . If his mother hadn't died uday reflected she would have been the one to take care of him whenever he needed it . But his mother had departed from this world shortly after manyata had been snatched from him . It seemed cruel to take both a five year old boy s best friend and his mother but then that s fate . Growing up he always had choti . But then she was choti . He was her big brother and it was his duty to take care of her . Unnati tried to take care of her dada but being his little sister she was never able to fulfil that role . She cared and loved her dada but he never let her take of her . Instead he insisted on pampering and spoiling and babying her. Uday often wondered how unnati remained so sweet time after time and the epitome of an unspoiled child despite all his efforts to the contrary . That was his choti he thought with pride . His thoughts were abruptly brought back to the present when he felt the hand manyata s hand rubbing his back in gentle motion stop its movement . He also registered that the glass of water had been taken away from him . He supposed he should lie back down . Just then daadi Saab walked in followed by doctor uncle . He greeted them and proceeded to check uday . "uncle Maine uday Ka temperature check kiya " piped manyata . " it was 101 degree " . " thank you beta " replied doctor Saab . " hum kuch davaiyaan deta hain aur saath hi injection bhi lagva detaen . (I LL GIVE SOME MEDICINES AND ALSO AN injection ) He first proceeded with the injection and then explained to Manyata which medicines were to be given when . Doctor Saab wished uday a speedy recovery and told them to call him if uday s fever hadn't reduced by tomorrow and bade his farewell . Daadi Saab observed how her grand daughter was taking care of uday and smiled . She hoped this will strengthen then friendship and later evolve into something else . She wanted the Devgarh jaigarh marriage alliance but also wanted the children to be happy . She told Manyata to take care of uday and left them . Manyata made uday take the medicines he was supposed to after breakfast and then instructed to him fall asleep . " par princess " he protested ." Hum subah subah kaise so sakte hain " ( HOW CAN I SLEEP IN THE MORNING ) " Hume kuch nahi sunna uday . Aapko rest Ki zaroorat hai " ( I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING UDAY YOU NEED REST ) Once he had lied down and closed his eyes manyata gently used her fingers to caress his hair . Uday found the motion soothing . He concentrated on the rythmic moment of her fingers slowly dancing and playing in his hair and to his surprise found himself drifting off . He wanted to keep feeling her touch but exhaustion won and in a few mins he was alseep with a smile on his face . Yuvraaj Udayveer hoped that smile was just a smile and not a grin like a lovesick puppy S . Manyata looked at the sleeping uday . The uday when he was asleep and when he was awake seemed to be drastically different . Every waking moment he was THE YUVRAAJ UDAYVEER SINGH juggling the life of a royal and balancing his responsibilities expertly while always portraying the personna of a picture perfect prince never once faltering being the perfect heir . Now asleep he looked younger . Like a teenager . A carefree teenager who knew nothing about the woes of the world and was jus discovering all the good and exciting things of life . She wondered how uday could have such diverse personalities and pondered upon it never once ceasing combing her fingers through his hair . It was the smile . She decided . While asleep like this he had a smile sweet like a child s . A mischievous child but a child nevertheless. While awake uday didn't smile . It was always his trademark smirk . The smirk that said he owned the world and no one could mess with. That confident and sometimes arrogant smirk and this small sweet smile were entirely different . But she loved ( as a friend ofcourse !) both sides of uday . She was happy to see this second side of him as it very rarely showed when he was awake . She wet the wash cloth which she had asked seema ji to bring and gently placed it on uday s forehead . She hoped it would help reduce his fever . All day manyata was with uday and took care of him as best as she could . It was evening and she was making uday drink a glass of orange juice . Uday asked for another glass of juice . It came just as uday finished his first glass . Manyata took the empty glass and replaced it with the full one . " yeh humare liye nahi aapke liye hain princess " ( THIS IS NOT FOR ME ITS FOR YOU PRINCESS) spoke uday . "humare liye ? " ( FOR ME? ) ASKED A surprised manyata . " might I remind you Uday that its you who s sick not me I m perfectly fine . " "yes princess but you have been around me the whole day I don't want my germs to spread to you and make you sick " uday said in a caring way . " please drink this " he said sweetly . His eyes betrayed his concern he really was worried about manyata she seemed tired that could be because all this taking care of him business had robbed her of her energy or because she too was starting to fall ill . Uday hoped it was just the former . Manyata sighed and obliged uday by drinking the glass of juice he handed her . She knew she wouldn't fall ill but drank the juice after seeing the care and concern uday had for her . When night arrived uday said " princess you should sleep ." " I ll sleep here" replied manyata and turned to perch herself more comfortably on the chair she had occupied beside uday all day . " you cant sleep in a chair princess" argued uday . He didn't want her to sleep in the chair she had sat in it all day and now she was planning on sleeping in it !! It would definitely give her a killer back pain he thought with concern . He was going to make her sleep in her bed resolved uday . " scoot over uday " she said uday complied on autopilot and moved to one side of the bed his mind still filled with thoughts and thinking of how he would convince her to sleep in her room on a bed . He was jerked out of his thoughts when he felt a weight settle beside him and occupy the other side of bed . He turned and his eyes widened in shock when he saw manyata laying beside him . " I ll share your bed if you don't mind . I don't want to leave you alone for the night . " spoke manyata . A still shocked uday nodded his head finding himself temporarily robbed of his speech . Manyata wrapped a blanket securely around uday and grabbed one for herself . " good night uday " she replied softly her voice already sleepy Uday s brain finally seemed to be working after his shock . It registered the fact that manyata was bit less than two feet away from him beside him in his bed . He gulped . He doubted he would catch any sleep tonight . Manyata seemed unconcerned by the fact that she was sharing his bed . She seemed to be swiftly succumbing to sleep . It was maybe because of her London upbringing thought uday . He wondered how she would have been if the kidnapper murari had raised her instead of leaving her at an orphanage to be adopted . Uday hoped her relaxed state was because she was comfortable around uday and not because manyata was used to sharing a bed with a guy and it didn't bother . Uday slept fretfully that night thinking of his manyata and her life in London . Sometime during the night he resolved it didn't matter . He was an idoit . There was manyata laying peacefully beside him sleeping soundly and here he was still awake after midnight. He scooted closer and tentatively slung an arm around her . He wasn't taking advantage of her . He mused infact the way she had slid into his bed it could ve said that she was taking advantage of uday he thought amusedly . When manyata didn't move away from him he wrapped his arm around her and brought her close to him . After sixteen years his princess was finally where she belonged . In his arms . Uday drifted off to sleep with a contented smile on his face with his princess in his arms . Two days later Uday came to the rajmahal to see Manyata. His fever had been cured a couple days ago and he had gone home . But ofcourse he couldn't go without seeing manyata each day and had come today to catch a glimpse of her and perhaps spend some time with her . He opened the door to her room and strode in without knocking . He found her lying in bed surrounded by tissues . For a moment uday felt his heart freeze was she crying ? He thought . He would kill the person responsible for her tears "what happened princess" asked uday . She looked up and he finally saw what he hadn't seen when focused on het red eyes . Her nose was puffy and red . And then she sneezed into the tissue she held in her hand . Uday almost breathed in relief his princess wasn't crying but then he realised she was sick !!! Well it was his turn to take care of her now . He walked towards her bed grabbed a chair and sat down . TWO HOURS AND ELEVEN MINUTES THIRTY TWO SECONDS LATER ( uday was counting you ll know why soon ) Uday sat in the chair beside her bed with his head in his hands lightly massaging his temple . Manyata was impossible . He had bounded in eager to take care of her but that was proving to be impossible . She was running a temperature of 102 degrees and when doctor uncle came with and injection she had refused . Udya had tried to cajole het into it but she had run away how he didn't know . He had brought her back to her bed with the promise of no injection she had been staring at him with her eyes glistening over with tears threatening to fall and he had ofcourse complied . Then he had found out his patience being tested when she refused to have any tablets . They were too big to swallow and tasted horrid she had told him with her wide doe like eyes . She had demanded for a sweet tasting syrup and refused to have any other medicine . She didn't lie down and rest . Doctor Saab came again to convince her to have an injection and manyata run away before they could catch her .he needed a drink thought uday tiredly . " how could you uday !! You promised me you wouldn't try to give me an injection " screamed manyata . Uday reconsidered his thoughts he needed a strong drink ...
