SLB to direct Magadheera remake !

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose forte is the lavish epic drama, will direct the film about reincarnation, revenge and retribution.

Magadheera, the 2009 Telugu film, was last in the news two years ago when it was reported that Shahid Kapoor would be playing a warrior in this reincarnation film. Now the remake is back in the news. with a new director. And this time, it's final. The Hindi version of SS Rajamouli's 2009 Telugu costume drama Magadheera will soon be a reality..

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose forte is the lavish epic drama, will direct the film about reincarnation, revenge and retribution. Says a source, "It was felt by the producers that no director but Sanjay could do justice to the epic scale of Magadheera. The film's budget is expected to be approximately '120 crore, which is higher than what Bhansali's last epic drama Bajirao Mastani cost."

Incidentally, Magadheera's original director SS Rajamouli doesn't want to direct the Hindi remakes of his films. He had earlier said no to a Hindi version of the Telugu hit Vikramarkudu, which was remade into Hindi as Rowdy Rathore. It was produced by Bhansali.
