Why did SLB give better roles to Aish than Deepika?

😉 I see some people arguing that Deepika didn't have impact with her roles in SLB movies like Aish did. Aish is remembered for Nandini and Paro. I have watched these movies more than 20 times. Deepika was good as Leela and Mastani but don't consider those roles pathbreaking. SLB was better in the 90's and early 00's. That was his golden era. Today's SLB just cares about hits. Aish was his muse. Deepika is just trying to cash in. Please share your thoughts. 😲

Don't like neither. Though Aishwarya is beautiful Deepika is 10x better actor than her. Not just Aish but even over rated Priyanka.

I loved her as Leela. But Mastani I think Slb was trying to recreate aish with her. All the same movements be it facial or dancing he was trying to make her aish. Bt the truth is she aint aish. I dnt knw what ppl have against Ram Leela it was better than stupid-rao mustardna only the 2nd half I got confused. Bt when he did movies with aish. It was very simple and clear to understand. From saawariya till date I get confused with his movies. I dnt get them

leela was a very strong role

she should have refused BM though

that role did not need an established actress..so one dimensional

because psycho slb spends most of his time searching costumes for his movies...role is secondary

SLB & Deepika don't work well together. He presents her beautifully but has failed twice to tap into her talent as an actress. Or maybe it's the fact that she had poorly written characters both times? Or just that Deepika fits better when she's playing more modern characters like Piku or Tara or Naina? Leela was a mess of a character and SLB butchered Mastani's role in the movie - which impacted Deepika's performances.

His combination with Aish on the other hand was magical. He brought the best out of her in HDDCS and Devdas - and she also stole the show in Guzaarish.

Ash is the "Barbie Doll" that Sanjay wants.

Full access and privileges to mold her as he envisions. Arguably, Ash's career best work were in his 3 movies.

Besides, SLB's forte is his presentation and the "look". Who better than Ash to do that on?? She fits well in his perfectly coordinated visual frames.

I don't think he gave better roles to
Aish. He writes his heroines in a certain way, that is what he did then and what he did now.
I think Deepika did a great job as Leela.
Also, I know this is a minority opinion on this forum but I liked her as Mastani too. She was subtle and powerful.
Priyanka acted well but her character, it's dialogues and it's body language were all
from the twentieth century. I mean she lived in a time where second marriages, especially for alliances, were common. But I would say that Bhansali's mistake and not hers. Women of the royal family neither called their husbands out nor danced with their other concubines :)

Aish also had better songs, choreographers and better dressing too. I wonder y does slb not take ismail darbar anymore? He created such magic with slb! Aish's songs, dance moves are remembered till today, but deepu's deewani mastani fall flat when compared to aish's songs. Deewani mastani left no impact on me and deepu looked like a zombie.. 😆
