Rani vs Kajol: The better actress?

Rani would be Top 10 of all-time, behind the likes of Nutan, Vyjayanthimala, Shabana Azmi etc.

Rani is an excellent actress, no doubt. For me her best was Mardaani.

Her resume is rather thin, has limited versatility. But what she did is magical to me. She did one tamil film with Prabhu Deva called Minsara Kanavu and made me like him as a lead 😆. Gupt, Dushman are others where she has taken risks.

Kajol's strength though is taking ordinary roles and making them iconic because she is in it. Anjali, Simran are just two. Nothing is extraordinary about them and neither is Kajol as a person in terms of beauty. But she is so good she disappears on screen and see the character and makes it so effortless. And the mark of an excellent actor is chemistry or the ability to play off each other and to be totally in sync and in the moment with each other. The chemistry she has with SRK for over 20 years when they do not have a romantic relationship is just amazing to me. To have that connection with another actor that people can palpably see on screen across generations, countries and decades and after years of breaks is just amazing.

She is extremely versatile and most effortless actress..I consider her one of the all time greats..She broke the notion that 70+ kg heroines are not sexy - Result KKHH..She is magic on screen be it Yuba, Saathiyan, Black, Mardani, No one killed Jessica...Each complex role so beautifully potrayed. How can I forget the loud Babli or a mute Roshni in Talash? I cant believe they are portrayed by the same actress ! She took risk, broke her again and again. And she was such an underrated dancer !

And coming to chemistry she is probably one herione who got excellent to good chemistry with most of her heros be it Aamir, SRK, Abhishek, Vivek, Bobby or Salman..Even Hrithik too despite the fact they were highly physically incompatible. Its all in her acting and eyes...I find her beautiful though !

Kajol has amazing screen presence. But she is always Kajol. Very OTT sometimes and she seldom stepped out of her comfort zone. Her OTT acting was perfectly suitable for a role like K3G. She sizzled in KKHH or DDLJ but I really cant see anything path breaking in her acting. I like her but that's it
